“How Much Did That Trial Cost?”

Have you ever wondered about that, when you see one of those TV programs about “trials?” But, maybe you are going through a different kind of “trial?” Maybe you are facing the “trial of your faith!”

After we had been married for several years, Bobby decided to go on a long fast… from 17-21 days. We were “flat broke” and couldn’t even afford rent. We had two small children, and yet, Bobby felt that the Lord was calling him to fast, “just on water.” It was one of the greatest trials of our life because he was in a “rat shack” with a smoky old kerosene heater, flat broke!

We did not know then, why God allowed this “great trial of our faith,” but, afterward, we found out that it was for our own good. It made us strong and tough, and eventually landed us in Haiti where our real calling is.

Apostle Peter said, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7
