Word From the Mission Field: 7-8-18 6:00 AM

“Wait on the Lord.” Psalm 27:14 — Maybe this devotion should be entitled, “The Cost of Not Waiting on the Lord.” In 1 Samuel 13, we see the story begin. Saul has been King of Israel for two years. But as time goes on, “And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude.” The Israelites were in a mess! But the Prophet Samuel had told Saul (1 Samuel 10:8) that he should “wait for Samuel in Gilgal for seven days” and that Samuel would come and make a sacrifice and tell Saul what to do. But, seeing the multitudes line up, Saul got nervous and decided to “do his own thing.” How many times have we done that? As Bobby says, “How many times have we tried to help God out?” He doesn’t need our help. He needs our obedience and the faith that we “will wait on Him” at any cost. (Continued tomorrow.) Sherry
