We’ve come too far to look back.
“And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.” Numbers 14:1
“Let us make a captain and return into Egypt.” Numbers 14:4
The people of Israel had been murmuring and complaining since they had left Egypt. Even after God had guided them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night… even after “water came out of the rock,” and even after the crossing of the Red Sea, and miracle after miracle. All they could do is cry, murmur, and complain. It’s a wonder Moses didn’t go crazy. All they could see were the obstacles, but they could not see, nor remember the “miracles!”
They should have been singing a praise song to the Lord all the way home! I heard a song by Nancy Harmon this morning, “I’ve Come Too Far to Look Back.” Bobby and I are in Haiti, a country bound by Voodoo, with huge gangs in control now. The police won’t help, because some of them are “inside,” with the gangs. These gangs have AK 47’s and M16’s and other guns I have never heard of. They are kidnapping people, children, and even pastors and priests. People say, “why don’t you and other missionaries leave, because the U.S. is not coming to help you, nor any other country…”
Jesus said, “No man, having put his hand to plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of Heaven.” Luke 9:62
We’ve come too far to look back. You have too. If you have not heard the song, get it and listen to the words… and begin to thank the Lord, because He is still leading you out!
