Word from the Mission Field – 08-29-17

“It’s not what you TAKE, it’s what you LEAVE…”
In Luke 16:19, the story is told of the rich man and the poor beggar, Lazarus. The rich man was “extremely” rich and was clothed in purple and fine linen. The Bible says, “he fared sumptuously” (ate like a pig) every day. Meanwhile, poor Lazarus, hungry, poor, and full of sores laid at his gate, only desiring the “crumbs” that fell from the rich man’s table. You know the story…the rich man died and went to hell, and Lazarus died and went to heaven. The rich man never thought about “what he could or could not take with him when he died.” He left nothing — not a giving heart, not compassion for the poor, nothing. It’s not what you take when you leave this world behind you, it’s what you leave “behind” when you die that matters. Some people have everything and leave “nothing,” and some people have nothing and are givers, and they leave “everything.” Have a blessed day! Sherry
