A Creole Proverb…
“Mennen koulev al lekol pa anyen, se fe-l chita-a ki red…”
“Taking a snake to school is nothing, it’s making him sit that is tough…”
These children start each day with a prayer thanking the Lord for school. It might be hard to sit the whole day, but these children are getting a Christian education and they have hope.
Life for the majority of children in Haiti is difficult.
Some children spend much of their day carrying water to earn a little money for the family.
Children start helping with the family chores at a very young age.
Some children wash clothes for their mothers.
Many children earn money by helping other families with laundry.
Boys must gather wood for their mothers to use for a fire or they sell it for charcoal to help provide for their families.
Some children must take a chicken to the market to sell.
This Haitian marketplace is in the middle of a dry riverbed.
Many little girls must care for their younger siblings.
Haitian children are not “children” for very long.
They must learn at an early age to help with the chores or work to earn money for the family. It is so sad. Since these families are poor, most of the children will never go to school. In order to attend schools in Haiti, the parents must pay about $100 Haitian every month. School is not an option for poor mountain families.
All of these children have a sponsor and are able to attend one of our schools.
When a Love A Child partner sponsors a child, he or she receives medical care…
A hot nourishing meal each day…
You can be the one to bring a child out of darkness and into a life of light and hope.
When you sponsor a child, you provide a hot and nourishing meal, a Christian education and routine medical care for your sponsored child. Please consider sponsoring a child and changing a life today.
Love,
Sherry
