Little lives are being saved…

The Jesus Healing Center continues to be a light in the darkness of rural Fond Parisien, Haiti.  There is always a constant flow of patients throughout the day receiving medical care and leaving the clinic with hope. We always think about the Creole Proverb… “Espwa fe viv.” “Hope gives life.”

Recently, we have provided excellent medical care for some very special children with unusual illnesses.  Dr. Jean Claude Mardy is highly respected in our area and even the poor parents seek him out to treat their children.  Dr. Mardy reaches out to these sickly children with love, compassion and patience.

Colin was brought to the Jesus Healing Center with a severely burned hand.  It required many days of treatment and surgery.  Dr. Mardy carefully wrapped Colin’s hand after each treatment.  After some investigating, we learned that Colin had reached for another bowl of food and his father got angry and shoved his hand into hot coals as a form of punishment.  We see this type of abuse all too often here in Haiti.

 

Misouka and her father came to one of the Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope Mobile Medical Clinics that was held in a remote village.  Her left leg is much shorter than her right leg.  This type of deformity is impossible to correct in Haiti and we continue to search for a solution. We need a doctor and hospital in the United States to provide her with the medical care she needs.

Shalken is ten years old and has an autoimmune disorder.  He runs a fever, is in constant pain and has sores that open and drain.  In October we started Shalken on a nutritious diet of Manna Rice every day, Xango every evening, and Glyconutrients as ordered.  This illness is not curable, but with the generous donations of food and supplements Shalken is living more comfortably, and is able to attend school on a regular basis.

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.  The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.  The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.  Psalms 41:1-3

An Optometry Department will help provide eye care for residents in Fond Parisien and beyond.  Recently, a volunteer brought a refractor to Love A Child and we were able to check the vision of many children.  We need a refractor and a machine to read the prescriptions of used glasses to build this department.

Burns are all too common in Haiti.  Most of the food is prepared over open fires and it is very dangerous.  Children play near cooking areas and often fall into the fires or they spill pots of boiling water on top of themselves.  These accidents can happen when mothers get busy and do not pay close attention to their children.  These burns are severe and can be life threatening, but we are able to provide burn treatment at the Jesus Healing Center.

This little girl spent only three months in the malnutrition center.  She came to us malnourished and lethargic.  It didn’t take long to see improvement with proper nutrition.

Charlie was born without arms and legs.  Love A Child has made it possible for him to spend time in the U. S. and he is being fitted for prosthetic arms and legs.  He is adapting and doing well.

Magda has a dislocated hip and suffers from Osteomyelitis (bone infection).  Hand of Hope is sponsoring her lengthy hospital stay.  She also has TB, which is preventing some additional surgery she needs.

Jesus Healing Center…saving lives throughout Haiti!

Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope sponsors the operating expenses each month at the Jesus Healing Center.  It is because of this generous gift that Love A Child is able to provide excellent healthcare to these children and many others just like them.  Thanks to the Jesus Healing Center, children with chronic illnesses are able to lead more normal lives.  Love A Child and Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope are partnering together to reach out in Haiti to meet the needs of the poorest of the poor.
