Upcoming Projects for 2015

March 13-21, 2015

“Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.” — Nehemiah 2:18

In the next few months, Love A Child has several large projects to build here in Haiti and one in the Dominican Republic. There are so many needs for the people of this Third World island that we must choose where we can best help the poorest of the poor.

Most of the locations are in the “Regions Beyond” where the travel is dangerous, but the need is the greatest.

We are working in a village called Peyi Pouri. We are building a new church, which will also serve as a school in that poor village on the top of a mountain.

Their existing church is nothing more than sticks and tattered tarps.

Not long ago, Bobby and I, along with David George and his friend Jay, and several others went up to Peyi Pouri to give the people great news. The Lord is going to provide a new church for them! Everyone is so excited! We serve a “can do” God! (We also gave them a new tarp for their existing church until the new church is built.)

Another project will take us to the rugged mountain village of Savaan Pit to build a new church, as well as remodel the existing Savaan Pit School. At one time this village had a vibrant church and school as seen in these pictures taken in 2009.

We have a school on top of a mountain there that needs to be repaired. The church has crumpled to the ground due to hurricanes, the earthquake, and severe storms in the past several years. The church had to be torn down and will be completely rebuilt.

The school also needs to be repaired. It is in very bad shape, barely standing with some boards and tin nailed together. The next heavy wind could likely blow it off the mountain top and far away. The good news is that thanks to our partners and David George and his partners, they will be repairing this school and rebuilding a “brand new” church! God is awesome!

Here is an update on our new Love A Child School in the mountain village of Greffin, in the middle of nowhere. The school was sponsored by one of our partners, Dor’e Aslandes.

Now, hundreds of poor children are receiving a Christian education with a hot meal, through our Child Sponsorship Program!

Now Dor’e is also sponsoring a brand new church in Greffin. She will also sponsor a retaining wall to protect the future new church from mudslides. The old church is barely standing and the people of Greffin will soon be able to worship in the new church.

In Fond Parisien, we are building a new Malnutrition Clinic, as we are presently using a tent.

These are just a couple of the faces of malnutrition here in Haiti.

The Malnutrition Clinic saves lives and helps thousands of very poor Haitians in our area. Mothers bring their malnourished babies to the clinic for help. Oftentimes, mothers are not getting enough nutrients for themselves and therefore cannot produce breast milk for their babies. It is a vicious cycle. At the Malnutrition Clinic, the mothers attend classes to educate them on taking care of their babies and families. They are enrolled in our program and we work at getting the entire family healthy.

Once in the program, the babies are checked weekly for weight gain, and proper development. At each appointment, the mother receives enough formula and food for the family to last until the next check up. It is a great system and helps these poor mothers take care of their families.

A special thank you goes to Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope for covering the operating expenses of the Jesus Healing Center, which runs the Malnutrition Center. This is a great blessing for thousands of poor Haitians.

We also have a special new project in the Dominican Republic. We are going to build a new church in Villa Hermosa in the La Romana province of the Dominican Republic. Pictured below are David George, Carlos, and his pastor, Carmela Gomez, who is a sweet and precious woman of God!

Recently, they were able to purchase the land. David George and his friends will be sponsoring this new church. This community is very poor and populated by both Haitians and Dominicans.

This is a spirit-filled praying woman of God! A special thank you to Carlos for all of his hard work, and to David George and his partners for sponsoring this miracle.

Please pray with us and help us to provide hope for thousands of children living in poverty.
