Update on our Latest Projects

May 30-June 15, 2015

Life can be so hard for the many people who live in the mountains of Haiti. These are very rugged areas to reach, with dangerously steep mountains and bad roads to travel that at times it is a challenge for us just to get there.

“With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

We have so many new projects that are under construction in Haiti that I thought I would give you an update on how they are coming along. We have several of our partners here in Haiti helping us build new churches and schools.

Savaan Pit

We are building a new church in Savaan Pit and remodeling the existing school.

Without a Christian education, the children of Haiti will stay in poverty and darkness.

Poor-Haitians

The good news is that thanks to David George and his partners, they will be repairing this big school and building a brand new church! The old church has been torn down and a new one will be built on the existing foundation. Special thanks to David George and his partners for sponsoring these projects! God is awesome!

Mark Ostrander will be working on the building of our new church in Savaan Pit, and the remodeling of the existing  school. It is a massive project in the “middle of nowhere!” We want to thank Mark for coming to Haiti once again to work on these important construction projects.

Greffin

Greffin is a mountain village in “the regions beyond” where we just completed a new school for the children of this area. We thank Dor’e Aslandes for sponsoring this school.

We will now be building a new church in Greffin. This is a very difficult village to reach deep into the mountains of Haiti, and it is an eight-hour round trip drive.

The old church is falling down. This will be another miracle “in the middle of nowhere.”

Peyi Pouri

We are building another church also “in the middle of nowhere” in Peyi Pouri. This is a very poor community that is isolated in the mountains of Haiti that we call it “the regions beyond.”

The poor gather under a “stick church with a ripped tarp” as the roof.

Here is a photo of Bobby with David George and a special friend. They were in Peyi Pouri to give the people great news. The Lord is going to provide a new church, which will also serve as a school for them. Everyone is so excited! We serve a “can do” God!

David George is a hero of the faith for sponsoring these new churches. We also welcomed his dear friend of many years, Senior Pastor Dale Cornell from Bakersfield, CA. Pastor Dale is the pastor of Liberty Christian Center. These men have big hearts for missions. They are joined by Pastor Souffrance from Peyi Pouri and Daniel our interpreter, as they  “eye the promised land.”

The construction has started in this mountain top village. It takes a whole village to build a church! Over 200 poor Haitians came down from the mountains to meet Pastor Claude’s truck to carry all the building materials back up the mountain to the construction site. Most trucks cannot make the trip up to Peyi Pouri because of the narrow “s-curve” roads.

The crowd of 200 lined up to gather things to carry. These items included: heavy pieces of tin, metal studs for the roof, rebar, and sacks of cement. They climbed about four hours “straight up” to reach the site of our new church. unloading-truck-Peyi-Pouri

The group carried the building materials on their heads and on donkeys up the mountain.

So many came out to help carry the construction material to the new church site. David George and his friends are also sponsoring a 30-foot high cross that will be built on top of the mountain for everyone to see, because this will be located in the middle of voodoo country! This cross will have solar lighting so people can see it from many miles away!

The new church is being built very quickly by these wonderful mountain people who are working so hard to have a new church in their community.

Villa Hermosa, La Romana, Dominican Republic

We are also building a new church in the Dominican Republic. This is our first Love A Child Church being built here in Villa Hermosa, a very poor area. “Faith doesn’t stand still…”

Pictured here are David George, Carlos, and his pastor, Pastor Carmela Gomez, who is a sweet and precious woman of God! David George and his friends will be sponsoring this new church. This community is very poor and populated by both Haitians and Dominicans!

The paperwork was signed purchasing the land where the new church will be built for Pastor Carmela Gomez in Villa Hermosa. This area is in the La Romana area of the Dominican Republic, and she has been praying for a new church for many years. Wow! This is a spirit-filled praying woman of God! A special thank you to Carlos for all of his hard work, and to David George and his partners for sponsoring this miracle. Love is something you do!

We are so excited for Carlos Silvestre and Pastor Carmela as they have a wonderful youth program here for many young Haitians and their families who live in this area.

This new church project is under the guidance of Randy Landis, our Dominican Republic Senior Field Director.

The church is being built very quickly! The footers were dug, the foundation went in and now the walls are going up!

Here are David George and Pastor Carmela Gomez in La Romana in front of the first Love A Child Church in the Dominican Republic. Thank you David and your friends for funding this project! Pastor Gomez and Carlos have a great burden for the youth of this poor area.
