Rosemitha and her Family Need a Home.

They are wet with the showers of the mountains, and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.

Rosemitha and her family

This is the story of Rosemitha Daleus and her family. This little girl lives in the village of Mal Forte, which is high up on Mon Cabrit (Goat Mountain). She lives there with her seven siblings, a mother who is overwhelmed by their poverty, and a father who has been very ill for a long time and cannot work.

Rosemitha a very poor child of Haiti

Several weeks ago, Bobby and I made the harrowing trip up to the village of Mal Forte to see if we could help Rosemitha and her poor family. The road was treacherous, and we had to walk the last bit of road, as the 4-wheel-drive vehicle couldn’t make it to the top. It was one of the most dangerous trips we have ever made in our 23 years in Haiti!

Bobby and Sherry are traveling a treacherous road to Mal Forte.

When we finally got to the village and Rosemitha’s mother, Sofiani Devla, and several of her children greeted us.

Rosemitha carries the family’s burden of poverty every day. Her mother needs to take care of the smallest children, so it is up to Rosemitha to take care of the house, wash dishes, fetch water, wash the clothes, gather firewood and so much more.

This is a photo of their house until several days ago.

Rosemitha's family home before the tragedy.

Rosemitha and her family have had a terrible tragedy. There was a big storm in the area of Goat Mountain, and their house was totally destroyed.

Their house was totally destroyed.

The house that was made of rock and sand filler has crumbled into a heap and nothing can be salvaged.

Now this family of eight children and their mother must find solace in the nearby church. They are allowed to stay there at night but must get out during the day. They desperately need shelter.

The family desperately needs shelter.

During the day, they are using a make-shift tent, that has holes and is barely standing. They must do their cooking and washing there during the day.

We can build a new house for Rosemitha’s family, which would include materials, labor and transportation of the building materials to these high mountains for approximately US$5000. If you would like to sponsor this house for this family, please call our office at 239-210-6107. We are asking the Lord to touch the heart of “one person or one family” to sponsor this house.

God bless you,

Bobby and Sherry
