Jovanie just returned from a day visit to her midwifery college in Hinche, Haiti. It is about a four-hour drive from us. She already completed nursing school but wanted to go on to study to become a midwife (also called “Fanm Saj” in Creole). When she saw our beautiful new Jesus Healing Center, she was so excited!
Jovanie has a “gift” for medicine. One day, she will be a great leader in our clinic or Birthing Center. She takes great care of patients and doesn’t want anyone “playing around” when they should be taking care of patients. She will finish college next year.
We found Jovanie when she was about seven years old. She had red hair with malnutrition, and her mother wasn’t taking good care of her. We brought her into our orphanage. She had a “strong will,” and at times I thought to give up on her completely! She was the “trial of my faith!” But, “God is the God of the second chance!” We love Jovanie! Sherry
(Oh yes, those are “female bones” she had to study!! She was excited to get them! Ha!)
