Years ago, when we first moved to Haiti, we rented a house up in the mountains. People often came to our gate to ask for a little food, etc. But one day, a lady came to our gate called “Jesula.” In Creole, it means, “Jesus is here.” The poor woman wanted us to take in her two children because she was sick and felt that she could die. I said, “Your name is Jesula. That means that ‘Jesus is here,’ and if He is here, you’re not going to die!”
We sent that poor woman to the doctor. He said that Madamn Jesula was undernourished and frail, simply because she wasn’t eating well. We took care of that problem! We got Madamn Jesula on the road to good health. And now, her daughter, Widlene, the older sister, has a job and is a professional cook. Meanwhile, Esther is still in college, studying to become a “dental hygienist!” God is good!
