The sweet lady to the left is Chantal. Chantal came to our Birthing Center yesterday morning around 7:00 a.m. because she was having pain and thought her baby might be coming. Our midwife, Miss Saint Fleur, who is on the right, checked her and told her she still had time to wait. She was not ready to deliver yet. The lady said, “Okay,” and went outside and walked around. She did some squats and talked our ears off all day yesterday. When yesterday evening came, I saw that she was still here. By this time, it was about 7:00 p.m. in the evening. I went and asked Miss Saint Fleur what the deal was and if she was ready to have her baby. She said, “No. I told her she could go home and come back when the pain gets worse.” I went and talked to sweet Chantal and she refused to go home. She told me, “I am not having my baby anywhere else but here. If I go home, the baby might come before I make it back here.” After negotiating with her for a good while, I then offered to let her stay in our little apartment behind the Birthing Center. This is for people who come from far away and have family waiting for them after they have a baby. Chantal gladly took us up on the offer! As I got her settled last night, and as I was walking away, she was standing in the door frame and told me, “I am just going to consider this vacation.” I laughed so hard!!! Oh, and she also is demanding that our midwife, Miss Saint Fleur, is the one who delivers her baby. Miss Saint Fleur spent all night with her last night after she had worked all day! I will be sure to let you know when Chantal has her baby. I hope it comes soon before she moves in over here!! Hahaha!
