Update from the Mission Field

We have a lot of e-mails asking about the 17 kidnapped missionaries – kidnapped for 17 million dollars.

I’m sorry to say, the 400 Mawozo gang still has them. So sad that five are children, including an 8-month-old baby and mother. Seems like the news is fading, some are forgetting. Please pray more than ever. Really pray… the 400 Mawozo gang is probably the most notorious gang in Haiti.

They are also called the Papaya gang. They have been right down the road from us for about 2 1/2 years, now they have expanded and taken over Croix-des-Bouquets.

I don’t know who all is negotiating, U.S., FBI, or the Haitian government… Pray the Lord will give them extreme wisdom.

Please pray. This has gone on too long now.

Word from the Mission Field

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” Hebrews 11:8

The heroes of our faith all lived simply believing in an invisible God whom they could not see or touch. Faith and obedience go hand in hand.

Blessings,
Bobby

“Who’s the Cute Little Guy in the Suit?”

He could be a politician or a Pastor! (I hope, “a Pastor!”)

Just look at Noah! He is happy, strong, and confident! He may be missing a tooth but still manages a smile!

It was not long ago that he was “discarded in front of our gate” like a bag of trash! Noah had been severely abused, bitten, beaten, and neglected! It still amazes me that a mother could do this when she could have at least taken him to Social Services so he wouldn’t have been alone in the dark, cold and hungry!

But, God sees the treasure instead of the trash.

It took a long time before Noah could feel loved and that he could trust people…

Now, he is in first grade at our school, obedient, and “smart as a whip!” Love A Child children will help to change Haiti one day, with the Lord by their side… all because of “you!” Thank you, partners!

Saving Little Lives

We had always felt that the Lord wanted us to have a Malnutrition Clinic that would save many little lives, but we had to wait until we felt like we had everything we needed… a wonderful building, all the equipment we needed, the special milk they needed, nurses who had experience with these babies, and a wonderful pediatrician.

Our Malnutrition Clinic, like the Birthing Center, never closes. It is a 24/7 ministry…

Babies come through our Jesus Healing Center Clinic, first, and then, are referred by one of our doctors. These babies will need many months of “full-time care.”

We needed the equipment, which was expensive, and special milk, which we would have to import…

But the Lord provided! The Malnutrition Clinic was sponsored by Hand of Hope – Joyce Meyer Ministries, who also sponsored the furnishings. Much of the advice and help, and special milk formula came from our friends at Real Hope For Haiti (whom we share food with each month)… Other needs that “came up,” after we opened, were supplied by friends and partners…

This part was for “in-patient” care.

Out-patient takes place when the child or baby is allowed to leave, but we must see the children every two weeks to make sure their mothers are given the special foods they need to continue to care for these children. Our wonderful LAC partners began to send in clothing, underwear, etc., for us to send the children home in…

Each mother receives a box of “Feed My Starving Children” (FMSC) food to take home for “the rest of her family.” (If not, she will be tempted to share the expensive baby milk and products that are for the child going home with all her other children.)

We thank the Lord, first of all! We thank Hand of Hope – Joyce Meyer Ministries for sponsoring the building and other supplies; we thank our partners who donate each month to help pay the expenses for the staff, and to FMSC, for the food to take home.

We, here at Love a Child, “love” the little ones that God has entrusted us with!”

We still need partners to share in the “monthly expense” for the Malnutrition Clinic and we know that the Lord will provide!

God bless you and thank you,
Sherry

Beautiful Church in the “Mud Cookie Village…”

A few years ago, we began working in a village where they make the “mud cookies” that most everyone has heard about. These mud cookies are made because so many Haitian children are hungry, and if they have not eaten all day, they can eat a “mud cookie” and drink water, and their stomach will seem full.

We had a Mobile Medical Clinic in this area years ago, and it was a great success. Then, we felt led by the Lord to have an outside crusade. Many people were won to the Lord.

One of our employees, Pastor Joseph, began to minister in this area. And then, the Lord laid it upon the hearts of the Click Foundation to sponsor the building of a Church here. Pastor Joseph was ordained to be the Pastor of the Church! It has been growing ever since and is making an impact on the community.

Pastor Gregory Dickow of Life Changers Church has been sending us “Proclaimer Bibles in Creole.” These are like small cassettes of the Bible in the Creole language. Pastor Joseph kept ministering and passing out those Creole Proclaimer Bible Cassettes. The people heard the Word of God and decided to come to Church… and they did! They gave their hearts to the Lord!!

The Church needs a P.A. System, some microphones, and a keyboard, etc. We had someone check into what all this would cost. It would be a total of $2,500. If anyone would like to sponsor this, please let us know… We would like to get this on the next container so that they can get this in time for their Crusade in January. It would be a great blessing to everyone in the community of the little “mud cookie village!” Please call our office and talk to Rad at (239) 210-6107 if you want to sponsor the sound system and musical instruments.

Thank you, and God bless you from Haiti!

“Don’t Even Take a Peek!”

There’s something that the Lord just hates about “broken focus.” Anytime we take our eyes “off of Him” we lose track of what we are supposed to do…

Lot’s wife is a good example… When the Lord sent word through His angels to Lot that He was going to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Angel of the Lord literally had to take Lot and his family “by the hand” and drag them out…

“And while he (Lot) lingered, the men, (Angels of the Lord), laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him, and they brought him forth and set with them without the city…” Gen.19:16. And, after all of this, the Angel of the Lord said, “Escape for thy life; look not behind thee…”

The Lord rained fire and brimstone upon these two cities, and “even upon that which grew upon the ground”…”But, his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” Gen.19:26

Once we have our “hands on the plow,” we cannot even take a “peek” of what we left behind, because what we left behind is nothing! So, don’t grieve over that man, that boyfriend, that girlfriend, that job, that marriage… those might be things that keep you from getting what God wants for you… “Don’t even take a peek!”

Have a great day.

Update from the Mission Field

PTL! We received 5,000 gallons of diesel late this afternoon! Believe me, this is a miracle. Casimi here in the picture has nerves of steel! God has sent special angels to work with Casimi. The delivery diesel guys are very brave. BBQ the big G-9 gang leader started letting fuel trucks leave the fuel terminal just for a very short time.

The fuel truck must travel through Croix-des-Bouquets to arrive here in Fond Parisien. The Mawozo gang (Papaya gang) controls Croix-des-Bouquets. Today, that city is blocked off, too dangerous to travel through, especially with 5,000 gallons of diesel to run our generators. How Casimi gets through is beyond me! God bless Casimi…

The Lord gives him favor without a doubt.

Thank you Casimi, the delivery guys, and all of our friends who support us. Without you, we would never have the money to pay for all of this.

Thank you, Lord!!

Samuel… “God Saved Him, Just for Us!”

Hard to believe he’s in 9th grade now. What a change in him. He is really growing into being a “responsible young man.”

Samuel is polite and intelligent and a hard worker! He plays drums in our children’s Church services. Like all the other Haitian boys, he loves soccer (and is very good at it), and he loves basketball.

He is a hard worker, respectful and loving to all his brothers and sisters. Samuel has the talent to draw, but in his spare time, he helps the “painting team.” He also loves working in the “Agricultural Center.”

His poor father would be so proud of him today. Samuel is from the mountains of Greffin. His poor father hated to give him up… Samuel’s father was the only one we have ever seen “cry” when he gave up a baby.

We are so glad that the Lord “saved Samuel” just for us! We all love him!

Equipped for Every Good Work – An ATC Update

“… the servant of God is thoroughly equipped for every good work…” – 2 Timothy 3:17

This verse tells us of the benefits of following God, serving Him, and seeking His ways.

A follower of Jesus will be “equipped for every good work.” We believe this at our Agricultural Training Center (ATC) too, where our director, Wilner, and his staff teach Haitians the Biblical principles of gardening and becoming self-sufficient, able to grow their own nutritious food.

In addition to maintaining our Agricultural Training Center, the ATC staff has demonstration gardens at the ATC, demonstration gardens at the adjacent Miracle Village Family Garden plots, and a large garden and grow-houses at Love A Child Village (Verger garden) that support as many as 5 kitchens there, including the one at the Children’s Home.

Self-sufficiency is even more important in times like these where commercial food is not reliably available due to violence on the roads, and lack of fuel to transport produce and get to markets.

Here you see a large plot of cucumbers nearing harvest at the Verger garden near the Children’s Home, and healthy beets on their way to the kitchens. We are grateful for all those who support our “sustainability” outreaches so that we can have these productive gardens to supply home-grown food for the children and staff at Love A Child.
