Word from the Mission Field

Love is something you do! The Lord put this within my heart several years ago. Actually, the whole thought that the Lord gave me was this… Faith is not something you just talk about, but faith is something you do. Love is not something you talk about, but love is something you do!

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26

“Let all your things be done with charity (love).” 1 Corinthians 16:14

1st Corinthians the 13th chapter is the love chapter!

Update on Dumolia: A Change of Colleges

We are so proud of all our Haitian children. They are “following their dreams.” Dumolia is one of our children who had a rough life and whom God has blessed. As you may know, she was badly burned when she was small. When she was brought to us by her father, she had fallen into a pot of boiling water, which had melted her from her neck down to her waist.

For many years, she was in the States, going back and forth from Haiti to the Shriners in Boston. She had to leave after the 11th grade because her Visa was up. When she came to Haiti, she could speak English but not French. So, we enrolled her in an English-speaking, American high school which was recognized here in Haiti. When she finished her 12th year (with high honors), we decided to send her to Italy, to a college especially for “English-speaking international students.” But she had a problem getting all her information to the college in Italy.

We found out she had been sending her college information to the “Italian Embassy” here in Haiti just about a month ago. But all the while, she should have been sending everything to the “Italian Embassy” in the U.S. because she graduated from a U.S. high school, which was in Haiti. So it became “very complicated!”

We found a wonderful college in Kingston, Jamaica called the “University of West Indies.”  This college is located right near a great Jamaican church with a wonderful pastor! It is a well-known medical university. We hope and pray that everything works out for Dumolia. She is so sweet, kind, intelligent, and loves the Lord!  We are doing the paperwork now.

Thank you for your prayers regarding this.

Precious Haitian Children with Full Meals, Thanks To You!

Each day, we receive pictures and notes from many missionary organizations we are helping with food. This morning, we shared some pictures and wonderful faces of the poor mountain peasants who struggle hard to feed their families. They have been working hard to build a road not far from Peyi Pouri, near a little village called Badgi so that our Mobile Medical Clinic will come to them. Food is the answer to so many different needs in Haiti.

Feeding children in Haiti is our biggest concern…we feed them in our schools, through feeding programs, during Mobile Clinics, through village feedings, and we feed them by “helping other missionaries” and ministries feed “their children.” For example, we recently shared food with Pastor Jean Marc at Hope for Life. He just sent in this note:

Hello, my friends! Thank you for the food for the children. During these difficult times, we are very grateful for the extra assistance. We praise God we were able to make it for the distribution despite the long travel day and trouble on the road when we returned. Our children have the food and that is what matters. We thank God and we thank you!

Sincerely,

Pastor Jean Marc Barmand

Hope For Life Children’s Home

All missionaries in Haiti face perils and problems to feed hungry children in Haiti. We want to thank every donor, every partner who has helped feed “even one child.” No child should ever go to bed hungry, sucking on their fingers, or drinking salt water, due to hunger. We are so thankful for the widow’s mite and for every dollar that is given! God bless you, wonderful friends, for your giving heart.

Building a Road for our Mobile Medical Clinic

Look at these precious poor farmers and their wives holding picks and hoes while working on the road near Peyi Pouri! All of the people in the area have been begging us to come and hold a Mobile Medical Clinic up there, but the roads have been washed out due to heavy rains. There are no “road crews” coming to fix this mountain road… Pastor Souffrance asked us for some food because the people wanted to work… It’s just that they hardly have any food to eat and working on this road is hard work!!! They said, “We’ll work for food, and we will work for a Mobile Medical Clinic!” Just look at the joy on their faces!!

We will keep you posted on our upcoming Mobile Medical Clinic! We still have to buy and pack a lot of medicines and supplies, but we want to be ready for a “lot of patients!” God bless you, our wonderful partners!! And special thanks to Pastor Souffrance and our team, Peter, Joseph, and Watson, who made this trip! Thank you, partners, for your love, prayers, and support!

New TV Program “Mud Cookies 2020” Begins Friday!

Our newest Love A Child television program, “Mud Cookies 2020,” begins airing tomorrow night on Daystar Television Network at 6:30 p.m. (ET) and will continue throughout the week. Join the Love A Child camera crew as they travel to Sapaterre, Haiti, and capture a first-hand view of villagers of all ages making thousands of cookies out of mud, that children and pregnant mothers all over Haiti eat to stay alive. You will witness the extent of true poverty as you watch destitute fathers dig deep underground to unearth the rock they use to make these mud cookies; as you watch young children literally eat dirt to quell the pain of hunger; as you watch a pregnant mother bite into rocks to keep her unborn baby alive for another day. You will hear directly from the voices of the children of Haiti how the mud is the only thing they have in their poor village; it is the only existence they have ever known. As Sherry says, “these are the things that break the very heart of God.”

We want to invite viewers around the world to tune in on Friday to Daystar Television Network at 6:30 p.m. (ET) and then throughout the week. You can also watch us on DirecTV, DISH Network, Christian Television Network, The Word Network, NRB, and many more local television stations. Check out our full schedule for the best way for you to tune in. You can also watch the program online through our Vimeo and YouTube channels or on our website www.loveachild.com under the “Media” tab.

Love is something you do!

Fill Your Horn with Oil and Go!

When Saul disobeyed the Lord, it broke Samuel’s heart and he mourned for Saul. “And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” – I Samuel 16:1

We spend time crying over things when God already has the answer worked out! God wants you to stop worrying, stop whining, stop crying! Dry your eyes, wash your face, and “fill your horn with oil!”

That thing you have been crying and praying about…God already has the answer worked out! He already has the solution!! He had it worked out before your tears hit the floor! So fill your horn with oil and begin to praise God! He was working on the solution before the problem ever hit! Dry your eyes; God’s got this!

Colin…a Little Genius!

We found Colin when he was brought to our first small Jesus Healing Center. His father had badly burned him! Colin had reached into the cooking pot to grab some rice that had stuck to the pot. His father got so angry and accused him of being a thief! So, he took Colin and held his hand in the hot charcoal coals! Colin’s hand was burned so badly. We took him into our clinic, cared for his hand, and then took him away from his parents!

Colin healed and went to school. We thought he would have learning difficulties, but instead, he outdid everyone! He is so smart in school that the teachers cannot stay ahead of him! They say he is a “little genius!” They’re right! He is!

We are proud of Colin, and we love him.

Feeding Hungry Children…

When we first began traveling to Haiti many years ago, it was the little children that touched our hearts. One night, many years ago, in Port au Prince, it was raining. Bobby noticed a little Haitian girl in the rain, trying to sell a few items she had in her little hand. She began to tell Bobby, through our interpreter, that if she did not sell, her little brothers and sisters would not eat. Bobby reached down and put money in her hand. It was her story and others that led us to programs for feeding hungry children.

But we realized we could not feed all the children unless we partnered with other missionaries who had the same burden. So when we receive food containers from Feed My Starving Children, we feed many villagers, schools, etc.  But, once a month, we share food containers with over a hundred organizations that are also trying to feed children.

This is one of them, Dayspring Missions. They are so thankful for this food to help feed the children they work with! Just look at this little guy’s face. His smile tells it all!

Thank you so much,

Bobby and Sherry

Update on Dieuferly…

Thank you, everyone, for your prayers for Dieuferly. As you may know, Dieuferly was raised in our Orphanage at the age of about three. He had double club feet. The operations he had were not good and as a result, he had suffered agonizing pain for years.

We were able to find a good surgeon in the Dominican Republic thanks to our friend, RL. Dieuferly had a serious operation on one of his feet about two weeks ago and is doing well, even though he still has pain at night.

His friend, Emmanuel is taking care of him, and cooking for him!! The other day, he got a visit from Michelene, who was raised in our orphanage, also!! She is like a sister to him!

While Dieuferly is recovering, he is studying editing online through the help of “Watson,” who works for Love A Child.

We wish to thank our two partners who helped to sponsor his operation and we thank everyone for their love and prayers. Dieuferly will need one more operation when this foot heals. We praise God for this surgery because it has been our dream for many years!!!

We love you all!

Bobby and Sherry
