Partnering Together in 2019

We are so very thankful to the Lord, first and to our wonderful partners, who gave gifts large and small (and those who wish to remain anonymous), who funded wonderful projects to help the Haitian people and children, the poorest of the poor. These are projects that you supported through donations to Love A Child…

Birthing Center: 2019 was a busy year for us. We built and dedicated the Love A Child Birthing Center on June 17th. From June 17th to December 31st, we delivered 552 babies and had daily Prenatal and Postnatal Care, “Women’s Health and Education Classes,” which continue this year. Thank you for being part of this wonderful outreach.

Grant for Operational Cost of the Birthing Center: We also received a monthly Grant to help operate the Birthing Center, which employs doctors, nurses, and professionally trained midwives. This Grant covers all the expenses, medicines, food, etc., for running the Birthing Center.

Providence University Road: For many years, the road that led from Fond Parisien back to the Providence University in Balan, was nothing but potholes and mud. Neither trucks nor public transportation was able to travel on this dirt and mud road. With the grant we received, we built a very sturdy road, 2.1 miles long, leading to the University. This not only opened the way for the students to attend, but it opened a large means of “commerce” for the poor.

Miracle Market Gas Station: Miracle Market was built to create jobs for the Haitian poor, who sell their crops, and food products. We had always wanted a Gas Station in the Market so that this would create more jobs and provide a gas station for those traveling from the Dominican Republic to the next large town, Croix des Bouquet, and for those traveling from Haiti to the Dominican Republic. The new “Go” Gas Station is still under construction, due to the political violence that occurred last year. But work continues every day. If no political problems arise, it is scheduled to be finished within two weeks, and then, we will have the “Dedication!”

Incinerators: We desperately needed two incinerators: one for the Birthing Center, and one for Miracle Market. We received the funds for both, and we are so thankful!

Chicken Processing Plant at Farmer Johns: Funds were given to Love A Child on behalf of “Farmer John,” to build a chicken processing plant and cannery. Farmer John operates the slaughterhouse in Miracle Market. The Chicken Processing Plant is still under construction right next to the “slaughterhouse.” It will bring in “much business” and create more jobs, for sustainability.

Funding for Additional Food During Haiti’s Dangerous Political Crisis: This past year, gangs have been paid off to steal, kill, and cripple Haiti. Riots and roadblocks meant that we could not get our food containers released from Haiti Customs. As a result, children and families were starving. Funds were given to Love A Child to “purchase food from the Dominican Republic,” which included packages packed with beans, rice, and cooking oil. This was a miracle and a great blessing in the greatest time of need. Later we were able to buy rice here in Haiti even at a better price.

We are overwhelmed with amazement at the help we have received. We wish to thank our wonderful partners, who gave gifts large and small and those who wish to remain anonymous.

Thank you,

Bobby and Sherry Burnette, Founders
