“Tears in My Eyes…”
The story of Garvens…I was called to our Jesus Healing Center clinic today, and what a shock I had! I have seen a lot of malnourished babies before, but none as bad as “Garvens Michel.” His young mother brought him to our clinic after she had taken him to another clinic who did nothing for him. This poor mother looked to be about 17 years old…no husband with her, but this is very common. This baby is six months old, old enough to sit and crawl! But his malnutrition is so severe that he can do neither. He also has diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and dehydration. He is so anemic that his eyes and fingernails are white! He also has a bad diaper rash and scars on his bottom. We had to quickly transfer him to “Petit Fre Ak Se” Hospital, in our ambulance, which is a hospital for babies and children. His mom will have to stay with him until he can travel, and she had no money at all. We gave her money for her expenses and food and will check on her and her baby in a few days.
As soon as we get our Malnutrition Center finished and get our team together (pediatrician, nurses, etc.), we can open. It won’t be soon enough for me! We are so thankful to Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope for sponsoring the building of the Malnutrition Center and all the furnishings that go inside of it!!!
God bless little Garvens and let’s be sure to pray for him! Sherry
