Teach A Man To Fish…Or Garden

We now have enough interest in our very popular “Sustainable Agriculture in Haiti” three-week training class to hold our next session from March 1 – March 20. Students are sponsored by other organizations in Haiti doing relief and development work to come live at our Agricultural Training Center (ATC) for an intensive three-week class.

They will live, learn, work and worship together, learning things like soil science, plant bed preparation (even when there is very poor soil), natural and organic fertilizers and pesticides, proper irrigation, mulching, compost, and finally harvesting and seed saving. This is a great opportunity to learn life-giving skills that restore dignity and the ability to take care of oneself and family, and even have some produce to sell at a market.

The students leave with sets of tools donated by Z23, seeds from Hope Seeds, and drip irrigation kits from Chapin Living Water. The new skills learned through class study and practical application will change generations’ lives. However, not all potential students can afford it. Sometimes missionary organizations need some scholarship help to send their deserving students. Full tuition is $725 for the three-week class. This tuition covers all lodging and food while they are here. It also includes books, supplies, planting material, daily cooking, cleaning, etc.

If you are a donor who understands how important this opportunity is to those who have very little but need the hope of a hand up to learn new skills, please consider donating toward our “ATC scholarships.” Any amount can help send a student to this class to improve their lives forever.

God bless you for considering the poor,
Rad Hazelip
Assistant Executive Director
