The Prime Minister of Haiti declares “early victory” over the coronavirus… Plans to re-open factories, a possibility…
Other reports give dire predictions that in three or four weeks the pandemic in Haiti will become a catastrophe.
Whatever happens in Haiti, it is ill-equipped for any type of COVID-19. Out of several million people, very few tests have been made… Some say 439 tests, according to the Ministry of Health Report.
Most health officials are concerned about COVID-19. Most of the Haitians who live here do not believe in the coronavirus. We have had 40 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and two deaths.
Here in Fond Parisien, Haiti, we have not heard of anyone dying from COVID-19 or having it in this area. Of course, there are no tests and no way of knowing who has it and who doesn’t. No one knows.
We do know that the Haitians in this area have been fasting and praying for God to cover Haiti. They have had two days of prayer and fasting on our Love A Child Radio Station.
The Haitians in the States have been calling Nelio, our Director in Haiti, to ask him “how they can get to Haiti and get out of the States!” They are scared. Too many Haitians are catching the virus in the United States.
We believe God will cover Haiti. We don’t want to accept the horrible predictions, because it would be devastating to the Haitian people.
We used to have so many people coming to our Jesus Healing Center that we could not possibly see them all in one day. We often had people “sleeping in front of our gate,” so that they could be the first in line. Now, we have slowed this down and implemented “social distancing” at our clinic. We have wash stations at our front gate, clinic, Birthing Center, and orphanage. Our security guards take everyone’s temperature and check it before anyone comes in. The children here at our Love A Child Children’s Home wake up at 4:30 a.m. each morning and begin to disinfect everything. We are doing all that we can, and we must let God do the rest.
