What’s in a Name?

Stanley… It’s hard to believe, but at one time, Stanley was actually a skinny little kid! He had come to us from an orphanage in Cape Haitian. Their Creole is a little different than in other parts of Haiti, and when he got here, all I heard was “ki nam?” (What is your name?) All the kids began to call him Kinam!

Stanley has been helping us with our fuel for over a year, since he left high school. We have to buy fuel from the big tank trucks to fill all the tanks for our Children’s Home, Jesus Healing Center clinic, Birthing Center, and the machines here. It is a big job to keep up with everything…how many gallons are going where, etc., and Stanley has done a great job and he is “honest!” He is now going to College INUKA for Electrical Engineering. One day, he will be able to get a good job. As soon as he got to Port-au-Prince, he wrote us this note:

“Good evening Mom and Dad How are you? I take this time to write you just to say thank you for all you have done for me, and for where you have placed me today. May God always bless you so that you can always help the poor people. Thanks for always thinking about me. My heart feels happy with you and Dad. Thank you for all again.

I love you

Stanley”

People ask us, “Is living in Haiti with all of its problems worth it?” Our answer is yes! If we can change one life, it’s more than worth it! Sherry
