“With Tears in My Eyes”

I heard the story of a 91-year-old grandma named Jumela this morning. I sat there, blinking back my tears as I was reading this. This poor grandma lives in Ganthier, a town about 30 minutes away. Jumela was brought to our Jesus Healing Center by her two children. She was hobbling in excruciating pain, but our staff quickly grabbed a wheelchair and took her in. She was taken to our wound care area, where Dr. Barthelemy and our medical staff were waiting on her.

A long time ago, the “ceiling of rotten house” caved in and broke her foot. A local hospital put a “piece of iron” in her foot, but when they took it out, it began to swell, got infected, and started “to rot,” as said by grandma. When she arrived in our wound care area, Dr. Barthelemy and our staff began immediately.  They worked a long time cleaning it and gave her antibiotics, pain medicines, etc. They will watch her, see how she does and determine if we need to send her to a hospital by ambulance.

We have been living and serving in Haiti for 30 years, and I have NEVER seen the poor, sick Haitians treated any better and with so much love and care.

Thank you, partners! And thank you to Dr. Barthelemy, Nixon, and all our kind professionals. Jesus Healing Center staff. Grandma Jumela thanks you, and with tears in my eyes, Bobby and I thank you!
