Word from the Mission Field

“That Still Small Voice.”

Let’s face it. We “all” want to be led by the Spirit of the Lord. However, “some of us,” when waiting on the Lord, are missing His voice… In Ist Kings, 19:8-12, Elijah, the Prophet of God, who had put fear in the hearts of the enemies of God’s people, has now been directed by the Lord, to Mount Horeb, in a cave. Elijah is feeling “all alone.” God speaks to him and says, “Elijah, what are you doing here?” And Elijah says that enemies of the Lord slain the prophets and are looking to kill him.

The Lord commands Elijah to go and stand on the top of the mountain… then, the Lord passes by, and “a great and strong wind rent the mountains” (split them in half), but the Lord wasn’t in the wind, and after the wind and earthquake, but the Lord wasn’t in the earthquake, and after the earthquake, a fire… but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire, “a still small voice.”

If you are looking for direction, be careful. The Word you need, might not be in the loud wind, nor in the earthquake, nor in the fire. The Word you need will be in “a still small voice.” But, “His sheep know His voice.” Have a great day and “listen with your heart.”
