Word from the Mission Field

“Seaweed and fish guts,” or “yes, Lord!”

In the book of Jonah, we see God speaking to Jonah saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh and cry against it, for their wickedness is come up before me…” Jonah 1:1

And what did Jonah do? “But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord…” He got on the ship, paid his fare, and relaxed because “God couldn’t find him.” But God had to send a great wind, almost breaking the boat, so that the mariners were afraid and they “threw him overboard!” But, that’s not all… God prepared a great fish, (a whale), to swallow him, and for three days and nights, he was in the belly of the whale with seaweed wrapped around his head, disgusting presence of stinking, smelling fish, blood, guts, etc… being tossed “up and down,” (sea sickness), until Jonah finally repented… then God told the whale to “spit him out!”

The Bible says, “to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams…” 1 Samuel 15:22
