“God never promised that the road would be easy…”
Some people think that “just because we are Christians” things are easy… Or maybe new coverts to Jesus think, “I’m not going to have any problems, trials, or tests…” How far is that from the truth!?
Have you ever noticed that when the Lord tells you to do something, “every devil from Hell” will jump out at you? Things will not go right. People will not be kind to you just because “God told you to do it!” You may not find the finances to do it… Your health may get worse instead of better… And worst of all, your own family or friends may not treat you well.
When the Lord called us to Haiti, we had very little money. In fact, we were broke all the time. Bobby had just found out that he had melanoma cancer in the third stages, and the doctor had given him about six months to live. I remember that “sickening feeling in my stomach.” I remember thinking, “I thought you called us to Haiti, Lord? Why is everything going wrong instead of right? Why is this happening to Bobby? Why are we broke? Where are our friends?” But the Lord was saying, “I never promised you that the road would be easy. In fact, I said, ‘In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.'” (John 16:33)
I would come to find out that “feeding hungry children” in Haiti would not be easy… Neither would building and running a large orphanage, building a Malnutrition Center and a larger Jesus Healing Center, and much more. We have fought a lot of battles to do these things, but the Lord has always been with us, and He will be with you! So, don’t’ be discouraged “if the road is not easy,” because He never promised you that. He did promise you that He would be with you every step of the way, and He still is! Have a peaceful day!
