Word from the Mission Field

“Blind Faith”

Jesus is on his way to Jericho, with a “great multitude of people.” Blind Bartimaeus sat by the wayside, begging, as he had done for years. But now, he “hears” the crowd singing, chanting, and a great noise. “Jesus of Nazareth is passing his way!” This is his only chance, and he cries out to Jesus! He must have yelled loudly to be heard above the crowd, and as he did, they told him to “shut up!” He said the same thing again, “Thou son of David, have mercy on me.” Mark 10:48

Have you ever prayed and prayed, and the devil told you to “shut up? It’s not going to do any good.” He would rather have you “shut up and give up!” But faith doesn’t shut up! It keeps knocking, and it keeps praying, and it won’t give up!

That second cry, louder than the first, caused something to happen. Jesus stood still and called for Bartimaeus to be brought to him.

Someone told him, “Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.” And, Bartimaeus cast away his beggars’ garment! This was his day, his hour, and he knew he would be healed! You know the story. Jesus told him, “Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.” Mark 10:52

But, instead, he followed Jesus. Sometimes, you have “blind faith!” You cannot see the change in your health or your finances, but if you have “blind faith,” the Lord will touch you and give you a miracle, as He did Bartimaeus!

Have a great day, with Jesus!
