“How far would you walk to feed to your children?”
Here in Haiti, God has laid it upon our hearts to feed hungry children and their families. It is difficult to feed the children without feeding their families…
We are thankful for donated food that comes from Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Minnesota. Love A Child is responsible for getting the food from FMSC in Minnesota to Miami, and from there to Haiti.
Then, we have to do whatever it takes to get it released from Customs, which is not an easy job. Then the food is transported by our tractor trailer to Fond Parisien to our Food Distribution Center.
There is a Haitian Creole Proverb that says, “He who shares his food never eats alone…” That means that when you share your food, God will always provide someone to help feed you when you are hungry.
Once a month, over 50 organizations, orphanages, and other non-profits come to pick up food that we share with them.
Family Feeding Programs…
We also have Family Food Distributions in many villages. Some of these villages are not “Christian oriented,” but they are steeped in Voodoo. One of these villages is Despeezo. It is far away in the middle of nowhere. Often, our trucks get stuck in the thick, gooey mud path that leads to Despeezo, or it gets stuck right there in the village. There are many challenges to feed hungry adults and children. A major witch doctor lives in this village. He has the largest VOODOO tonnel for miles around.
There are pictures painted on his walls.
He has placed “evil spirits” in his Voodoo tree and tries to control the village through fear.
But we have come to share Jesus with these people and let them know that God really loves them. We do this through our Mobile Medical Clinics…
and through Food Distributions.
Soon, we will go back to Despeezo with a Crusade!!! We will let you know when that happens!!!
Recently, our missionaries took food to the village of Despeezo. Our Love A Child staff thought the trucks could make it through the mud. The village people were worried that the trucks would not make it through the mud and when they saw our food trucks coming, this is what happened…
They were afraid they wouldn’t get food…
The poor mothers, fathers and children walked for miles through the village, and down the mud road that led to our trucks.
They were so hungry that they were afraid the trucks would get stuck, and they couldn’t wait any longer!
Our missionaries parked the trucks right there in the middle of the rice fields and the people made a long line.
There were lots of those pink Food Cards. Each card meant that a family would receive a huge box of food (216 meals) to feed their children.
And still, there were more people coming across the field from a long ways off.
We began passing out the food…
Robert, one of our missionaries, helped get the people in a line.
Bob Stufflebeam was there too. He is also one of our missionaries. (It takes lots of help to feed the hungry.)
Danielle checked the Food Cards and kept everything moving along…
Soon, men, women and children were leaving with big boxes of food on their heads.
Some were serious…they knew they wanted to get to their hut and start cooking the food!
All of them were thankful for the food…
Little children carried heavy boxes on their heads.
Soon, we could all see the people leaving on foot and going through the mud path back to their village where the witch doctor lives. This time, they are going home with a little hope and they realize that God loves them so much that He sent them food way out here in the middle of nowhere!
Thank you for partnering with us. If you are already a partner, you can see that your sacrificial gift is going to feed hungry children!
If you would like to become part of this wonderful outreach of feeding the hungry, please call our office at 239-210-6107.
God bless you and thank you,
Bobby and Sherry
P.S. Important Need: We are in need of two new “four-wheel drive diesel pickups” for Haiti. These smaller pickups can take food into some of our mountain villages that are very difficult to reach. Right now, we are spending lots of money each month “fixing and repairing” junk pickup trucks that break down in the mountains. We are desperate for two new pickup trucks. Each four-wheel drive diesel pickup costs $35,000 to purchase in Haiti. This will save shipping and Custom fees so we can get them quickly. If the Lord has blessed you in some unusual way, and you can sponsor “one of these trucks,” please call our office in Fort Myers at (239) 210-6107, and Bobby will call you back on his cell phone. These two four-wheel drive pickup trucks are desperately needed now.
