“Si se Bondye ki voye, li peya fre ou.”
”If it is God who sends you, he’ll pay your expenses.”
We are so blessed to be able to provide good medical care to the poorest of the poor. This would not be possible without the help of Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope, who sponsors the operational costs of the clinic each month, and special thanks to our Love A Child Partners, who built the clinic. We are so thankful to Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope for the start up costs of this clinic. When we first built the clinic, we could not open it until we had all of the funds for the equipment, medicines and staff. Without the help of Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope, the Jesus Healing Center would have been impossible. Our Jesus Healing Center is fully licensed with the Department of Health here in Haiti.
We also wish to thank Carole Stufflebeam, our Medical Administrator, who does an excellent job of organizing the Jesus Healing Center, overseeing it, and helping it grow and expand! What a wonderful job she has done there, and today let’s, “just look what the Lord has done…”
Last quarter we talked about expanding our outreach to include dental care and optometry. Throughout the year, volunteer teams have come to Love A Child conducting clinics to care for poor Haitians living in our area and in the mountains.
As these clinics are conducted, our FAITH is tested even more as we must expand our facilities. Over the last months, we’ve created a space for our dental area.
Dr. Sally Cooley and Dental Team
This container below works well as the dental facility. It is amazing what meaning comes to a simple “container” once a vision is given.
Just recently, a church from the States was here helping to build us a much needed concrete slab for a waiting area in front of the clinic. The dental care facility will continue to improve with volunteer teams coming to share information with our staff.
The third quarter at the Jesus Healing Center has been busy with much growth. We are now providing dental care as well as emergency medical care. Love A Child has been fortunate to have several dental teams come to Haiti from the United States.
These teams bring a wealth of knowledge to share with our staff and a willingness to treat poor Haitians throughout our area. Many of these Haitian patients have been living with toothaches for years because they cannot afford dental care. The toothaches that start out small soon become terribly infected and cause severe pain.
It is a huge blessing for the poor to have these dental teams come and provide them with some relief. When word gets out that there is a dental clinic at Love A Child, lines begin forming before the sun comes up. By the time the clinic opens, we have many patients to treat.
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness. Psalms 41:1-3
For years, the Fond Parisien residents had no place in the area to go for emergency care. This has changed since opening the Jesus Healing Center. We are pleased to provide emergency care ranging from a few stitches to handling severe burns, cardiac arrest and many other issues.
We treat a variety of medical issues at the clinic. If we are unable to provide the necessary treatment for a patient, we then make arrangements to send him or her to the nearest facility able to provide the care needed. We stabilize these patients before sending them to another facility for additional care.
Our staff continues to strive for excellence. Each staff member loves working at the Jesus Healing Center and wants to provide the best medical care in Haiti. We’ve always stressed the importance of continuing education and make this possible for our staff members. The Department of Minister of Health (MSPP) has requested that the Jesus Healing Center be a center of education for resident doctors and nurses to do their volunteer year of free practice before pursuing their license.
We continue to move forward by faith to finish the dental clinic waiting area. This area will be finished when we are able to put a roof over the waiting area.
The next step of faith will be opening an optometry department. We have the clinic space, but still need two vital pieces of equipment, a refractor and a machine to read the prescriptions of used glasses.
We again wish to thank Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope for the continued monthly financial support. Your contribution here in Haiti allows us to provide much needed care to poor Haitians living in our area and up in the mountains.
Blessings,
Bobby and Sherry Burnette
