Child Sponsorship Changes Lives

August 1-11, 2014

A Creole Proverb…
“Mennen koulev al lekol pa anyen, se fe-l chita-a ki red…”
“Taking a snake to school is nothing, it’s making him sit that is tough…”

I love this Creole Proverb. It reminds me of children and how hard it is for them to sit still in school. Right now in the United States, children are preparing for school to start. Some are ready and eager to return to school, while others may grumble about not wanting summer to come to an end.

Many Haitian children only dream of going to school.

The majority of poor Haitian children are not able to go to school.

Many children must spend their days trying to earn a little money to help their families.

Some carry water and some wash clothes.

10132

Some children earn money by doing laundry for other families.

This is reality in Haiti. These children have little hope.

While we cannot change the life of every child in Haiti, we can change one life at a time.

We change lives through our Child Sponsorship Program. This program brings a child out of darkness and gives him or her “hope.”

As you partner with us, you change lives. Let’s take a look at some of those changed lives.

Dana is one of our Love A Child orphans, and she has been with us for a long time. Dana, her brother and two sisters came to us after their mother died. She has worked hard for her education and is now a kindergarten teacher. We are so proud of her.

Here is another one of our orphans. This is Jovanie. When she came to live with us years ago, her hair was red from malnutrition. She is studying to be a nurse and has completed her first year of college. She will return this fall to continue her education.

This is Julia. She has been living with us since she was about eight, after her mother’s death. Thanks to our Child Sponsorship Program, she has completed her education and now works as a lab technician at our Jesus Healing Center.

Micheline is one of our older girls. She helps out when we do Mobile Medical Clinics in the mountains. She has spent time in the Dominican Republic learning Spanish and wants to be an airline agent.

Dimilia suffered severe burns when she was a young girl. Today, she is in the United States and has undergone another skin graft surgery at the Shriners Hospital. We thank the hospital and staff for providing the necessary treatment to change Dimilia’s life. We also thank Lori and her family for taking such good care of Dimilia while she is in the States for her medical appointments.

Julanne and Jonise were some of our first orphans and are sisters. Both parents died when they were very young. These girls have been with us since the beginning. (Julanne and Jonise are the two little girls on the right side of the photo below.)

Julanne has just completed her first year of University in Haiti to become a pediatrician, and Jonise has completed her education to become a bank teller. She is working in our Love A Child accounting department until she is able to find a job.

These lives have been changed because of you, our partners. We thank you for your heart of compassion and for making a difference in the lives of children in Haiti. Your support and gifts save lives. Each one of these children now have hope and a brighter future because of you. There are thousands of children living in areas where Love A Child works that only dream of going to school. You can make that dream come true by sponsoring a child today.

Your sponsorship provides a child with a Christian education, a hot nourishing meal and routine medical care.

Please pray about sponsoring a child today.

May God bless you,
