Recently, our Medical Administrator Barbara MacMannis sent me a report about our Jesus Healing Center that I would like to share with you. Barbara is doing a remarkable job with the Jesus Healing Center and our new Malnutrition Center, which are both very busy.
“And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” — Isaiah 58:11
Amid the arid and desert-like terrain of Fond Parisien, Haiti, there is an oasis of lush greenery, beautiful flowers, and manicured grass. It is an oasis not only because of its peaceful surroundings, but also for the comfort it brings to the body and soul. It is the Love A Child Jesus Healing Center.
“We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother who he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And the commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.” — 1 John 4:19–21
When patients have walked for hours through rock and rubble, and they are thirsty and discouraged by illnesses, the staff at the Jesus Healing Center is ready to take them in with a smile. It is truly a life-changing zone where prayer and singing are part of the encouragement offered in the waiting area. We pray each morning for the Lord’s guidance as we try to embody the very character of Jesus in all we do and to be filled with His Holy Spirit.
“I cried out unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill.” — Psalm 3:4
Diversity in Care
We are thankful for the generosity of Joyce Meyer Ministries-Hand of Hope for providing the monthly funding to maintain and continually improve this diverse and growing facility. We are able to meet the needs of the 100 plus patients who are at our gate each morning. From the littlest child, with evidence of a failed Voodoo cure, to the oldest patients, we are able to treat and provide for their medical needs.
There is an old Haitian proverb the people know all too well, “Dokte pa chache malad; se malad ki chache dokte,” which means, “The doctor doesn’t seek the sick; it is the sick who seek the doctor.” Or, those in need must take the first step. The life the people know in Haiti is very harsh, like the climate and the terrain. When they are sick and no one can comfort them and the Voodoo they are familiar with does not help them, they turn to the Jesus Healing Center. Here they will hear the truth of God and they will be greeted with love and compassion. They will leave feeling secure that their issues have been addressed and their fears removed. By treating everyone who walks through the gate as special in the eyes of the Lord, we speak volumes to them.
Our message of unconditional love: “A new commandment I give to you, that you are to love one another: Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” — John 13:34
Cholera Still a Problem For Haiti
During a recent survey of two villages close to the clinic, we found that one of the biggest problems is hygiene; therefore, we make it a priority to teach the importance of cleanliness at our prenatal and nutrition clinics as well as during routine exams. We are able to do quarterly seminars for the local villages on this very important subject. These seminars not only provide instruction, but also small samples of what is needed to provide a safe environment for families.
Because of a lack of knowledge about hygiene and sanitation, the threat of Cholera is ever looming in all parts of Haiti. It is our goal to keep this horrible disease in check, for the shocking effects of Cholera can move swiftly. This disease can devastate children who are already underweight, anemic and malnourished within 24 hours.
We are fortunate to be able to supply the medication and IV solutions these children so desperately need. As we stabilize these precious little ones and prepare them to be transported to a higher level of care, we are reminded of our duty to be the hands and feet of Jesus in everything we do. With an intravenous line in place, the doctor checks on the child one last time before the trip to the Cholera center.
Even as we send our patients to other facilities we are aware of their needs and make sure the funds are available for the additional fluids each will require.
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” — Colossians 3:12
Teaching Love at All Levels
What a wonderful feeling it is when a young mother can look lovingly at her baby. There is a certain amount of shame and guilt involved in a mother with a sick baby. The stares she gets from other mothers are so hurtful.
Many times it is because the mother does not know how to nourish her baby after breastfeeding. At the Jesus Healing Center, mothers are taught nutrition and supplied with a healthy supplemental feeding. Watching the baby progress from week to week and the ensuing happiness of the mother is such a blessing.
Please keep our staff members and patients in your prayers. The Jesus Healing Center is a very complex facility to run and operate. It takes lots of dedication and hard work from many people.
In His love,
Barbara MacMannis, RN; Medical Administrator

P.S. “We have a special need for the Jesus Healing Center” — Due to our inventory of medicines and supplies that come in and go out so quickly, we are in desperate need of a “bar code system” that can track all our medical supplies. We found one that would work well from Wasp Barcode Technologies for $3,702. If the Lord is leading you to give a financial gift toward this equipment or sponsor the entire cost of this equipment for us, please call our office at: 239-210-6107 and ask to speak to Rad. This equipment is really needed for our Jesus Healing Center. Sherry
The Jesus Healing Center reaches out to care for the whole family through consultation, community health and our well-planned referral system for those who need extended care.
