Outreach Programs in The Regions Beyond

November 23 – December 3, 2015

“To preach the gospel in the regions beyond…” – 2 Corinthians 10:16

We often talk about our trips to the “Regions Beyond” here in Haiti. Whether we are building a new school or church, holding a Mobile Medical Clinic, or visiting remote villages to bring food to the poorest of the poor, these areas are very difficult to reach and we travel treacherous roads for many hours.

We bring our Outreach Programs to remote villages that are home to some of the poorest people in Haiti. Years of soil erosion and lack of water this year has put a terrible burden on these people as they cannot produce their own food, and they are starving to death, especially the very sad and helpless children.

We go into these remote areas to bring Mobile Medical Clinics to hundreds of people. Many of them have never seen a doctor or received any kind of medical care in their lives. There are few doctors in these areas, and in most cases, the poor Haitians cannot afford to see a doctor, and it is a very long way to walk with a sick child.

Mobile Medical Outreach

Bobby and I lead these traveling clinics that are staffed with health professionals and volunteers into some of the most inaccessible sections of Haiti that we’ve dubbed “Regions Beyond.”

To support our traveling medical team during these outreaches, we must pack all of our medical supplies, food and tents for the volunteers when we travel into these remote regions. These mountainous roads we travel are steep and twisting, and often times they are washed out and in terrible condition.

Despeezo is just one of the villages we visit in the “Regions Beyond.” On this trip, there were hundreds of people lined up and waiting for us under the Voodoo tree.

Many of the villages that we visit in the “Regions Beyond” are in the middle of “Voodoo Country.” Here, the well-known local witch doctor keeps a watchful eye as we set up our Mobile Medical Clinic in this village.

Our mobile medical teams “touch Haiti’s sick” in a variety of ways: not only by tending to ailments and dispensing medicines, but also by demonstrating God’s love through personal compassion and commitment to helping the poor.

Feeding Programs

When visiting these villages, we also hold our Feeding Outreach Program for thousands who suffer from severe malnutrition. This food is donated by Feed My Starving Children and our partners help pay for shipping from the States to Haiti.

It is so heartbreaking to see so many sad Haitian children who are suffering from severe malnutrition as they go day-to-day without food–or in an effort to fill their aching stomachs, they eat mud cookies, ash, pebbles, even goat feces or whatever they can find to stop the pain of hunger.

Some villages are so remote that it takes “stealth donkeys” to get the food through to them. It takes many hands to haul it up the mountain to villages like Peyi Pouri.

Schools & Churches

Our Outreach Program also includes building schools and churches in the “Regions Beyond.” This is just one of our 17 Christian schools in Haiti. This is our newest school in Greffin that is located deep in the mountains… in the “Regions Beyond.” Children are given a healthy meal daily, and receive a Christian education, thanks to their wonderful sponsors in our “Child Sponsorship” program.

This beautiful church is our newest building project! The wonderful mountain people are praising the Lord and thankful to David George and his friends for sponsoring this church in the middle of nowhere, in Voodoo country.

We minister to the poorest of the poor in Haiti and work to spread the Word of God, showing Christ’s love by example. With each new school and church that we build here in Haiti, it is not only a chance to educate children, but a wonderful opportunity to bring the Word of God to these remote villages. “To preach the gospel in the regions beyond…”

“But as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.”

– 1 Samuel 30:24

This verse means that when Bobby and I go to the “Regions Beyond” to win a witch doctor to the Lord or to feed a hungry child or to save a life, our partners (you) share in every soul that is won to Jesus, every child that is fed and every life that is saved.

Whether or not you are called by God to the mission field, no one should go through life without visiting and giving some time to a third world country. It “changes” your life for the better… whether it is to preach the Gospel, feed the hungry, build a project, or work in a Mobile Medical Clinic, your life will never be the same. Please pray about going on a mission trip to the “Regions Beyond” here in Haiti. If you cannot go, then please give. Missions are the heart of God. We are so blessed that God has called us to help children in need, as they are our neighbors.
