Mobile Medical Clinic to Lastik

December 8-17

“For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.”

— Deuteronomy 15:11

We recently made a trip to the “Regions Beyond” to hold a Mobile Medical Clinic in the mountain village of Lastik. We originally were going to take the clinic to Savaan Pit, but the rainy mountain roads were too dangerous, so we went to Lastik. We would be treating all who would come from the mountains in that area.

We had assembled a great group of people who joined the Mission Team for this journey, and like every Mobile Medical Clinic trip that we take into the “Regions Beyond,” we started with our pharmacy preparations, so that we can bring medical services and medicines to the very poor.

And of course, no trip into the “Regions Beyond” would be complete without a flat tire on at least one of our vehicles.

Here in Lastik, we are in the middle of nowhere; and hundreds have come early to our Love A Child Mobile Medical Clinic. These poor people are in such great need. Thank you to our volunteer mobile medical team for being part of this outreach.

Some families have walked for two days to get to this clinic!

We operated the clinic for four days in this area. There were so many people that needed medical attention, because there is no medical help out in the “Regions Beyond.” We are the only opportunity for these Haitians to receive any medical attention at all.

All of our volunteers, and Bobby and I, slept in tents during the trip. For many team members it was a life-changing experience as they helped hundreds of sick and needy Haitians who came to our clinic.

This young girl is Ysema Lounia, who is one of our sponsored children; she receives food while in school and medical care when needed. This day she was feeling quite ill and looking very sad.

Families are given a Family Medical Pack that gives them essential over-the-counter medicine for what may be common ailments for us, but for Haitians it can be life-threatening, if left untreated.

We had an outstanding clinic in the mountains of Lastik. We treated 1,449 patients, distributed 7,640 medications and gave out 89 pairs of eyeglasses.

We had 27 people come to the Lord.

We want to thank our Love A Child partners who helped sponsor this Mobile Medical Clinic in the mountains of Lastik, Haiti. This was a very productive clinic, and we wish to thank Debbie Click, Rita Liebelt, Shelly Perkins, Sherry King, Vicki Evans, Ken Fraser, Dan and Dr. Debbie Chen, Connie Vinck, Dr. Pat Webster, Evie Ostrander, our Love A Child missionary Kaeli Fletcher, Barbara MacMannis, and Carlos, our team host. We had our great Haitian staff with us too!
