A Creole Proverb…
“Dan pouri gen fòs sou bannann mi.”
“Rotten teeth have strength over ripe bananas.”
Years ago, this Haitian man had a horrible toothache and “Dentist Bobby” helped relieve the pain.
Often, Haitians suffer for years with horrible toothaches or even infections from poorly performed dental work. Last week God sent the healing hands of Dr. Sally Cooley and her amazing dental team.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Shrewsbury Gospel Temple, Pastor Roy Smith and his daughter Melissa, we have a great place to conduct our dental clinics. This group sent a large shipping container that we are now able to use as our dental clinic.
Carole Stufflebeam worked her magic and created a clinic complete with all the necessary dental supplies.
Haitians came each day and waited their turn to see Dr. Sally and her team.
Dr. Sally and the dental team worked long hours caring for many Haitians.
This Haitian man might be missing his front tooth, but now he is pain free.
It was such a blessing to have Dr. Sally and her team here in Haiti. Good dental care is rare in Haiti. This photo below is Pastor Bernice and Bobby.
Three years ago, Pastor Bernice had a tooth pulled by an inexperienced Haitian dentist who caused him much pain and damage. For three years Pastor Bernice suffered day and night with pain from an infection. We later sent him to a wonderful missionary dentist and oral surgeon, but nothing helped him recover. He finally gave up the fight and died about two months ago. He is now “free from pain.” There are countless others just like Pastor Bernice, and that is why good American dental teams are such a wonderful blessing to the poor in Haiti.
Here we are with Dr. Sally Cooley, Barbara Forret and Pam Moses.
We thank this wonderful dental team for coming to Haiti to treat the poorest of the poor. We hope they return soon to continue this dental program for our poor Haitian neighbors.
May God bless you,
Sherry
