Good news! We have a building next to our Jesus Healing Center, which was built to be a “malnutrition clinic.” Mothers would bring their babies and toddlers in each week for “teachings in health,” weighing and measuring the babies, and exams. Each mother would leave with “lots” of protein foods for their malnourished children. But, there was no room inside to “house” mothers and children for an extended period of time.
When the Jesus Healing Center Clinic began to “outgrow itself,” we had to use a good portion of the Malnutrition Center for more doctors to do their triage and care for the large numbers of patients coming each day. We then began to realize, that one day, we would need to extend the Malnutrition Center or build a bigger building to house mothers and children for an extended period of time.
During this time, the University of Florida came to us looking for a building to use for two labs for scientific research of diseases that are affecting the Haitian people and the prevention of these diseases. We felt in our hearts to let the University of Florida use the building which was our Malnutrition Center.
Now, for the breaking news! Two days ago, David Meyer of Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope contacted us, and they felt within their hearts to send the money next week to build an entirely new Malnutrition Center!! In this clinic, the mothers and babies will be able to stay there until their babies are well and have gained the weight to leave! We also have a plan to teach the mothers while they are there, a trade or a craft so that when they leave, they will be more able to support their children. We are so excited!
We are so thankful to Hand of Hope, Joyce Meyer, who has been sponsoring the “Jesus Healing Center Clinic” each month, along with a container of food, and they have done “so much more!” They are so giving, and have such a high standard of excellence! We are humbled to be a part of Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope. We love you! May God bless you and all your partners who have made this dream come true!
