Our Jesus Healing Center…An Atmosphere of Love and Care

We are so very blessed with the best doctors, nurses, and workers in our new Jesus Healing Center. It is kept “clean and spotless.” There is a great feeling of peace and calmness when you walk in the door. This is where the “poor” come to receive a consultation, medical care, labs, etc., no matter how poor they are. If someone is critically ill, we have an ambulance to take them to a hospital at no charge.

Our doctors and nurses are so sweet and caring and do a great “professional job.” You can feel the “healing hands of Jesus” here, and all the patients love this clinic!

For many years, when we first started working in Haiti, I had very bad experiences with some Haitian doctors. Of course, many are good, caring doctors, but the ones I went to, or took someone to, had high prices, and did not care about the poor. Some were even rude. Years ago, during a Mobile Clinic (before we had our clinic in operation), we had a little girl with a severe, acute asthma attack. It was so bad that she was on the floor, squatting, trying to “push up” to catch a breath. We did not have the medicine she needed, so our driver took her and our nurse to the nearest clinic. The young American nurse rushed into the ER with the little girl and told the doctor in Creole that she really needed a shot of Epinephrine for the little girl. The doctor shrugged his shoulders, and in French, the doctor said, “I don’t know what you are talking about.” The nurse then pointed to the medicine in his cabinet, Epinephrine. (He was angry because she could not speak French!). Finally, she said, “I know you; you speak Creole! She needs that shot, now!” He finally gave the little girl the shot. I have had other bad experiences with doctors in Haiti.

This is why we are so proud of our doctors, nurses, and staff. Several have served on Mobile Clinics, “in the middle of no-where,” and did a great job, and there are many good, caring doctors. It is important to “treat the poor” like they are “first-class,” with a calm voice from nurses who really care.

Our head doctor, Dr. Barthelemy, is one of the sweetest doctors you would ever know. He is calm, sweet, and funny, but he is so meticulous when he is with a patient! We cannot say enough about him!!! All of our doctors are wonderful! This is what makes our clinic so good!! It is not only the atmosphere, the good treatment, the beautiful building, but it is the “staff!” We love them and appreciate them!!! And, where would we be without “Nixon!” He is the administrator, but like a “papa,” over the clinic, the Birthing Center, and the Malnutrition Center. We have a wonderful staff!!! And, we have the “most wonderful partners” God could ever give someone!!
