Infant Boy Clothing Needed…

Hi everyone! As you know already, we have a wonderful Malnutrition Clinic running and it is always a sweet place to be! When we turn these little ones back to their mother, we love to dress them in a nice pretty dress or nice little boys’ clothing. But we hardly have any clothing for boys now… We have a baby about 14 months old, ready to go home soon, but we don’t have any nice clothes for him. Sometimes, you can get those cute ones with a hat and a little shirt and pants to match! The moms would love this! If you can find boys’ baby clothes, sizes 9 months to age 4, it would be a great big blessing because we have none.

Send any baby clothes, (especially needed for boys), to this address:

Love A Child

Fort Myers, FL  33913
Phone: (239) 210-6107

Thank you so much and may God bless you!!!

Jasson’s Medical Trip

This morning, early, Jasson left to go to the Dominican Republic with Philemond, our driver. Jasson has been to the D.R. several times before this, in regards to his kidney problems.

As you may know, when we found Jasson in the mountains (during a Mobile Clinic), his belly was “the biggest belly we had ever seen on a child!” He had “Kwashiorkor Malnutrition,” which means that he was: “bones and water.” This was the first step in his “kidney condition,” which is now life-threatening.

Although we had sent him to specialist doctors here in Haiti; I will not tell you about those experiences, but it was a nightmare. We finally took him to the Dominican Republic and found doctors who were experts in kidney problems and dialysis.

They started him on a very strict diet, and he did “OK,” but his kidney problems were getting worse. He could not be placed on a “transplant” list” because the Dominican Republic cannot accept patients from outside the D.R. They already have so many [kidney transplant patients] on the “list.”

We needed a “Pediatric Dialysis Machine,” that we could actually bring back to Haiti. But it was so expensive… Just when we were about to give up, God sent some wonderful partners who sponsored this machine for Jasson.

He will get his blood tests, etc., and this week, they will prepare him for dialysis. We are sending Jovanie (one of our Love A Child kids), who is also an RN, and Phanise, one of our Love A Child Jesus Healing Center Clinic nurses. They will leave Sunday to go and train on the dialysis machine with Jasson. When they come back with Jasson and the machine to Love A Child they will start Jasson on Dialysis here at our Love A Child Children’s Home. (Two of Jasson’s “brothers” will be allowed to sleep in his room, so he doesn’t feel isolated.) The machine will run all night long and hopefully, he will be able to go to school, etc., during the daytime. That is the first plan.

But, the “better plan,” would be that we find a “kidney donor” for Jasson… and the “best plan” would be for God to heal him.

“Finally, my brethren, when you have done all, stand…” Eph 6:13

We are doing “all we can for Jasson,” but from there, He is in God’s hands. Asking for your precious prayers.

Bobby and Sherry

P.S. We want to give credit and all our thanks to Jesse Ostrander, the son of Mark Ostrander. It has been “Jesse” who made all these trips to the D.R. searching for a doctor, getting all Jasson’s medications, making sure he stays on his diet, organizing all the trips, and the list goes on, and on! Thank you, Jesse! You are one special guy!

Davidson… Another Twin!

This is Davidson Noel. He and his twin brother, David, were brought to us on Christmas Eve by Grandma Noel! I know that sounds crazy, but that’s what happened. The twin babies were born high up in the mountains where there is no doctor, so their mother died during or right after childbirth possibly due to childbirth “fever.”  We wanted to name the babies Jonathan and David, but when we made their birth certificates, the government people insisted on “Davidson and David.” All twin names must have something in common in their names, so this is Davidson.

We had to hire a lady to take care of them. We found out that their throats were almost “completely closed up!” Their grandmother had no money for milk or sugar, so she fed them “salt water.” By the time we got them, their throats were almost swollen shut! They cried all the time, but God spared them!

Davidson is in college now studying photography. His brother is studying engineering. Both boys are very tall and sweet. And finally, it is much easier to get them “out of bed!” Ha! Both boys have a dream! It is amazing that God chose these two boys to come all the way down from the mountains to our orphanage! We pray that these boys will reach their dreams. It is difficult now to do this in Haiti because of the gangs. But God is more powerful than anything else, and God always has a plan for our lives.

Love Is Something You Do!

ANOTHER WARM STORY – LOVE IS SOMETHING YOU DO!

Gabion house update from southern Haiti: House number 32

Darius Therese is seventy-six years old and homeless since the earthquake last August 14th in southern Haiti. She is overwhelmed with joy knowing she will no longer live under the trees under a tarp but will have a strongly built house in a few weeks. Her house is under construction now! She is so thankful and very happy.

Update: We have built 30 Gabion houses in southern Haiti with 30 families that have moved inside. We are now working on the next set of 30 houses. We build 30 houses at a time, taking all the materials to the different job sites. Thank you Opedale, Hubert, and team for all your hard work. We are believing that we can do 100 Gabion houses to begin with, and then see what the Lord says from there.

Please pray and help be a part of this project to bless the earthquake victims of southern Haiti. A special made three-bedroom house with a front porch costs $9,000. All made from local materials and local labor supplying jobs. Think about building a house in the memory of a loved one or give what the Lord places upon your heart. We are building by faith! We are believing the Lord for 30 more houses. Thank you for your prayers and financial help.

Word from the Mission Field

“He Always Was and Always Will Be God!”

Our tiny little minds cannot comprehend God. He is so, so big. And the thing about God is that He always has been God, always is God, and always will be God. He never changes. David said, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God!” Psalm 90:2

Our problems are only “big” in our eyes. God never leaves us and will always be nearby. We have been through an embargo here in Haiti. We have been through floods, hurricanes, two earthquakes, and much more. And there is much more facing us each day, but God is still with us. He is big enough to hold the world in the palm of His hand but small enough to fit inside our hearts. He is our mighty God! Have a blessed day!!

Ginyia… Mature for Her Young Age!

Little 10-year-old Ginyia wants to be a nurse. She is in third grade and does excellent in school! Her first name is actually very long and we believe her mother was Dominican. Her mother died during a C-Section here in Haiti and her father left for the Dominican Republic. Little Ginyia had then been raised by her 17-year-cousin. But, as time went by, her cousin could no longer take care of her. Her grandfather told the young girl to take the baby to Social Services here in Haiti. It is then that they called us and asked us to take this baby.

Ginyia was very shy when she came but, with all her “sisters,” she soon developed a cute personality! She loves to jump rope, loves to dress up, and loves to dance with the Praise Team! The kids gave her a nickname… “Fonton Boulet” (Big Forehead!) She seems like a grown woman in the body of a child. Ginyia is loving, sweet, kind, and everyone loves her!

Gifting Coconut Trees!

PASTOR CLAUDE RECEIVED HIS COCONUT TREES!

HE IS SO FUNNY!

I’m so excited for Pastor Claude and his orphan children. We gave him four coconut trees this week that Wilner Exil and his crew, along with our Agriculture Training Center students, grew in these pots inside our shade houses. Thank you, Joe Perkins, for several shade houses that you erected for us. What a blessing!

This week, Wilner and his group will be going to Pastor Claude’s orphanage to bring banana trees, more coconut trees, and other fruit trees, as a gift to the children. Sherry and I are going too! I can’t wait! We are going to plant and teach the children the value of what the Lord has given us. Thank you to all of you who help make all that we do together possible.

Word from the Mission Field

“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of host.” 1 Samuel 17:45

Some of you may be facing a giant in your life today, and you feel so much smaller. The Lord is on our side and with God, we are bigger than the giant! You may have a large problem in your life, but God is bigger!
