Christian… “Ten More, Just Like Him”

He is small for his age and in 10th grade. He is a great student, making good grades. He is now 15 years old. The first time we saw him he was about four or five… what a cutie. His father was in prison, and the Department of Social Services brought him to us. He had a smile “a yard long,” and he still does.

When he was about five, he could really sing and was never afraid of crowds. When we dedicated our Market Place, he was right up there in front of several thousand people and sang like a professional.

He now plays the keyboard and still loves to sing. Christian is so, so sweet, and quiet, and always helpful. The kids nicknamed him “kalaya,” because when he came, he was always saying that word. The wonderful thing is that he is a good worker and always wants to help! I would like to have about ten more, “just like him!” We all love Christian!

Birthing Center… Time Out for Some Fun!!!

No one works any harder in Haiti than the mothers. They not only have the job of caring for their children, but they basically have to sell items, in order to be able to afford even a little food.

Many times, a father will desert his wife and children. That causes an “even bigger, harsher load,” than before, and sometimes, a man will leave his pregnant wife. Here at our Love A Child Birthing Center, we try to take some of that stress off these sweet mothers. An organization called “Rebuild Globally,” Sandra Sandsted, has helped to make a big difference in their lives. She has founded this organization to take “things we throw away,” and make beautiful items, like sandals.

These sandals are not the ones that break easily. They are tough!!! Just look at the smiles on the faces of these mothers!! They can wear them to walk up and down a mountain and not break!! They are even “Haitian Kids Proof!” Ha! The Bible says that “A merry heart doth good like a medicine.” Proverbs 17:22

Special thanks to sweet Sarah from Rebuild Globally and all the workers! These moms would say, “You made our day!!”

A Witch Doctor Pronounced a Curse… But the Lord Reversed the Decision… (WARNING: Graphic Photos)

“A Man in the Care of a Witch Doctor for Two Months… Rather Grows Worse.” Special Thanks to Map International.

(Warning: Graphic photos)

The majority of Haitians believe in witchcraft, whether they are Christians, or not. Once the “spirit of fear,” attacks them, they will believe strongly that they will get very sick, or die. It is the “spirit of fear.” But, the problem is that the witch doctor cannot heal them so their problem gets worse.

This is what happened to Mr. Germain, a 39-year-old man living in Port-au-Prince, the father of six children. He had a badly infected foot for two months. It started out like a small bump but it got infected and he began to scratch it. Then, it got larger and larger each day. He went to see a witch doctor and spent two months “hospitalized in the witch doctor’s house.” But, he was never cured. So, he looked for a “hospital” to go to. Someone told him about our “Love A Child Jesus Healing Center,” and he made the decision to come. By this time, his legs were painful and his skin was “rotting!” When he arrived at our Jesus Healing Center, our doctor rushed him into Wound Care. Our doctor spent an hour, cleaning out the wound. After it was cleaned and bandaged up, Mr. Germain felt so much better, and he felt like “something new happened to him.” He was totally cared for and given extra medicine and left without paying a penny. We believe in medicine, and we believe in prayer!

We wish to thank Joyce Meyer Ministries — Hand of Hope for sponsoring the operating cost of our Jesus Healing Center and we wish to thank MAP International for all the wonderful medical supplies and medicines they have donated to us recently! God bless you! We are thrilled that our doors and our arms were opened to the sick, again!

P.S. Special need: Our doctors here are in desperate need of Hospital Surgical Gloves. These are different than the normal gloves that are all-purpose; our doctors need these for wound care and other needs. If you can help by donating these, call our office at 239-210-6107. Ask to speak to Rad. Thank you, Sherry

Word from the Mission Field

Oh God heal our land:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Oh Lord, we humble ourselves, and repent of our sins, heal our land. I look at Haiti and America, which is in need of God’s forgiveness. When we repent before the Lord, He will forgive us and will move and do mighty things in our lives!

Ginyia… Up with the Chickens

Little Ginyia is “up with the chickens,” spraying and disinfecting the railings of our children’s home. Other children have other jobs, but Ginyia knows what she is supposed to do and does a good job. This little sweetie lost her mother during a C-Section because her mother was not in any type of Birthing Center or good Hospital. All we know is that her mother died giving birth to her and her father immediately left for the Dominican Republic. When he did not return, her 17-year-old cousin tried to care for her, but caring for a new baby with no money for milk or diapers is very discouraging, especially when her cousin should have been in school. She finally brought her to the Social Services Department and they brought her to us and asked us to keep her. Of course, we said, “Yes!” Ginyia is a very intelligent little girl at the age of 10. She is a good student, a hard worker and she is on the Praise Dance Team and doesn’t miss a beat!!! The dances are very complicated, but Ginyia is always “in step.” She will go far! We love Ginyia! What a sweetie!

Queen for a Day

“God I know you love me, and I believe it will be better for me this time and they will be saving hot cookies for everyone.” In fact, she became aware of the Love A Child Birthing Center, which has been operating 24 hours a day, since she decided to follow the doctor at the center for the entire period of her pregnancy. Thanks to God, today she gave birth to her 6th child, who is a little girl that weighed 3.2 kg in the center. Despite all the suffering she took during her labor, it did not stop her from being happy. She was happy because her baby was born in a beautiful center and the services are free and have been well received. This was a poor woman, that had no idea in the world that she would ever be able to use the Love A Child Jesus Healing Center and fall into the hands of God.

The people from the mountain areas cannot be criticized for having many children. This is part of the suffering and the culture of Haiti. When a woman has a child or children and her husband leaves her, she must “find another man” who is willing to stay with her and help her find a living and feed her children. She will be expected to go to bed with him, thus getting pregnant again. When women from the mountains and far away places are not educated or have the chance to go to school or a higher level of education, they feel they are “trapped,” and have no way out. Now, it is just a means of survival to keep these children alive each day. There are no holidays to look forward to, or any family events out because every single day is the same… “exist” for today. Get enough food for “today.”

However, these mothers love their children and always do the best they can. The most wonderful thing is that these mothers, like Madamn Monjolie, will have their baby in a beautiful Birthing Center, and they will have the best of care, and afterward, a pretty recovery room and a nice meal, and new clothes for their baby, and can be “Queen for a Day.”

Sherry

P.S. We are so proud of our own little Dumolia, who does a great job at the Birthing Center, on the “Sonograms!” She is still waiting for her Dominican Republic Visa so that she can go to Jamaica to an International Nursing College! Thank you for everything, our dear partners!

Word from the Mission Field

The Lord told Solomon in the third chapter of Kings that he could have anything he asked for. Solomon chose WISDOM above all the things he could have asked for. “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” Proverbs 8:11 – Wisdom is a precious gift from the Lord. Seek her today! Bobby

Home At Last

Well, we thank the Lord that I had a “negative” Covid Test, after getting a “positive” Covid Test the day before! I’m glad I took the test at a different location because I had no symptoms.

We got to Haiti today, and as we came into the orphanage, the kids were climbing all over us, hugging and kissing us, and carrying our “very heavy suitcases” up the stairs. We had more hugs and kisses from our staff, and of course, from Sampson, our 110 lb. Rottie, who only jumps up on our bed when we come home from being gone!

We were as excited to see them as they were to see us! Nini, who cooks for our visitors, said, “The house is not happy when you are gone!” We truly have a deep love for the Haitian people and children!!! Thank all of you for your prayers.

7th Anniversary – Gwo Maché Mirak

Today marks the 7th anniversary of the dedication of the Gwo Maché Mirak, or Grand Miracle Marketplace, in Fond Parisien, Haiti. For seven years now, the Haitian people have had the nicest, cleanest, safest marketplace with a wide variety of commercial activities to support the regional economy and create a place for many secure jobs. During these seven years, the Marketplace has continued to expand and adjust its services.

In addition to the many restaurants serving local Haitian food, a bank, a Western Union office, and hundreds of small vendor shops with anything from beauty supplies, freshly grown produce, clothes, electronics, etc. It now even offers a clean, modern, and efficient “GO” fuel station that always has a line of eager customers. In the rear part of the marketplace is the expanded Abatwa or “butcher shop” where Farmer John’s-branded meats of all kinds are available, providing the highest standards for fresh meat in all of Haiti.

Those of you who have been with us since the Grand Opening seven years ago or anyone who has actually been to the Gwo Maché Mirak can testify to the tremendous enduring impact that this Development for Sustainability project is having on the poor nation of Haiti. The $1 million faith seed that Pastor Jentezen Franklin and the Kingdom Connection church provided years ago continues to provide opportunity, higher standards, open-air Christian music, and joy and hope to hundreds of Haitian people who are coming to know Jesus through this project.

As Pastor Franklin said in his Dedication Day remarks, when Jesus came riding a donkey into Jerusalem, he came “through the marketplace”! We thank Pastor Franklin for his faith and support of this project, and Mr. Bellevue and his staff who manage it and keep it operating well. And, we also want to thank our beloved friend Oriel who put all the Dedication festivities together so well and produced our great TV show for so many years. They are all an example of what can happen when people come together, showing that “Love is something that you do.”

Rad Hazelip, Assistant Executive Director
