Update from Haiti

As we told you yesterday, through much prayer and thought, we are staying here in Haiti to be with our Haitian children at our Love A Child Children’s Home and the precious people of Haiti. The children consider us their “mother and father,” and they are afraid for us to leave. Likewise, the people who work for us are the same… Some of whom we have known for 27 years. They are so happy to know that we will still be here to help.

Our Haitian doctors here at our Jesus Healing Center have asked us not to open this week, except for emergencies only. The doctors and nurses are here for emergencies. They said that our Jesus Healing Center does not only have “local people coming,” but they are coming from “all over Haiti” and some of whom have been to the Dominican Republic. This is one of the decisions that has been “really tough” for us. They said that we must be protected; the children and all of our Love A Child compound.

We just read an article 20 minutes ago that said that most of the doctors and nurses from the General Hospital in Port-au-Prince have fled because of fear of the coronavirus. We have also heard that two other hospitals have closed completely.

Our Birthing Center is open 24/7.

Our construction on the new Jesus Healing Center and the new Malnutrition Center continues.

Just about an hour ago, we read some very disturbing news in the paper. They are predicting at least 800,000 Haitians will die from Covid-19. This concerns us greatly because Haiti is 10,714 square miles, only about the size of Massachusetts. We read also that Haiti only has 64 ventilators and most of them are broken; others are old, and anything left is not sanitized! Haiti is ill-equipped to handle this coronavirus. For all of us that are left here with the Haitians, there is no medical help. We can only be quarantined and pray that we don’t die. We are really praying that America or some other country will send Haiti ventilators, masks, and the medical supplies that they need here. They hardly have anything.

We want you to know that we are very concerned about all of our friends in America; especially, New York and the other hot spots. We are praying for our friends who help us from other countries as well. We know that you all are going through such battles yourself, and we are holding you up in prayer. We are all walking in the Word of God… Psalm 91. We are all covered with the blood of Christ.

We want to thank you for your prayers and financial support. Please don’t forget us during these times here in Haiti. Your help is needed more now than ever…

May God bless you from Haiti.

Bobby and Sherry

P.S. This morning, we delivered food to three more villages and will continue to do so with your prayers. Food is a crisis here in Haiti.
