Noah Has Come A Long Way!

Wow! I live with him and can’t believe that this is Noah!!

Noah is in the first grade! It seems like yesterday that he was abandoned in front of our gate, beaten, malnourished, and afraid. Who would do that to any child? It took a long time for Noah to learn how to trust and accept love. The emotional scars had been deeply embedded. But love is a powerful force that heals wounds inside and out! Noah is always first in his class and loves to learn. He always has a mischievous smile on his face. He loves to dance, sing, and eat! He always looks like a tiny football player. We love this kid!

Nan Gaya Food Distribution

Yesterday, our workers and some of our Haitian sons went to six different locations to deliver meals. One of the locations was Nan Gaya. In each Feed My Starving Children box is 216 meals, made with rice, carrots, peas, vegetables, soy, minerals, vitamins, plus much more. A lot of things are happening in Haiti due to the gangs. The streets are not safe… We are going forward, not stopping. Families are desperate for food here… more than I’ve ever seen in Haiti. Pray for Haiti.  –  Missionary Bobby Burnette

Word from the Mission Field

Afraid of change?

I really felt like giving this scripture this morning, because someone is getting ready to make a move and is “afraid of change.” But God is speaking to you and saying, “Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid of change…”

“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee.” (Genesis 12:1) We cannot imagine what it must have been like for Abram to hear the voice of a God he never knew. He had no television, iPod, or Bible. He had no church home and no Christian friends. And in those Bible days, they “never left their family.” Their father was the law of the land and of the household. No one ever disobeyed or left his household. No one. No one, but Abram…

And yet, a voice Abram had never heard… “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house…” A change was about to come into Abram’s life. He would no more be Abram but Abraham, the father of nations! To a normal person or to his wife, it must have been so frightening to just “leave.” Sometimes, when God speaks to us, we are “afraid of change.” I remember the first time we came to Haiti to live. We couldn’t speak the language. Didn’t know the customs. Didn’t have any friends in Haiti and didn’t have any support. We were leaving our family and friends and going off into a country we knew little about. All because we heard that same voice that Abram heard…

Sometimes, God wants us to make a change in our life that will be for the good of many people. It may not be what you thought it would be and maybe you are “afraid of change,” but go ahead and “step into the water.” If you feel in your heart that this is what the Lord is leading you to do, just do it. If you make a mistake, God can always get you back on track. Don’t be “afraid of change.” Have a wonderful day!

Off to School for Zachary!

Unbelievable!! I cannot believe they put Zachary in school!!! He is only two!!! Well, in Haiti, they start early!! Zachary is the baby of the family. Seeing him in his little school uniform is a miracle because he wasn’t supposed to be alive. As the story has been told, Zachary’s mother was deep into Voodoo. Four of her children “died,” and she “lost one little girl,” and told her neighbors that she was going to kill her baby with a butcher’s knife until we rescued him.

Zachary is quiet, but he is “thinking all the time.” He loves big men! He loves hanging around the big guys and is often sitting in church with his arm around someone’s neck! Zachary is very quiet and doesn’t talk much, but he can let you know what he wants!

I was sure that he wouldn’t start school until he was three years old, but here he is! I’m sure he will be a good little student and will do well in school! We are so proud of all our Love A Child children!! They “reach for the stars!!” This is the next generation of Haiti! Thank you, Partners, for your love and help for all our children! Thank you for sending in clothing, and especially shoes, black shoes! We all love little Zachary! What a wonderful God we serve to bring this little fellow right to us!

Tents in Arnaud Nipps

Here are just a few tents out of the 240 tents given out yesterday in an area called Arnuad Nipps. This area is deep in the interior inside the earthquake zone. The families are so thankful and happy.

More tents are being given out today and all this week. God bless Hubert – our key person there who is working and organizing everything. These are very “hard to get to” locations… the forgotten ones. Thank you again to everyone who helped financially to make this possible. The days that Sherry and I were there helping we were touched to our very core of compassion. – Missionary Bobby Burnette

Misery in Mon Oreg

When a young girl is burned in an accident, her mother is left helpless. Too poor to get the medical help her daughter requires, she is left to hope and pray for the assistance she needs. You are the reason mothers see their children healed, and children like Chenia get the medical relief they need. We cannot do this without you. Love is something you do!

Their Valuable Food

Our drivers have been working hard to get containers out of the Customs area and bring them all the way here to Love A Child. During these perilous times in Haiti, it is so dangerous to go to the Port and get our containers out of Customs. There are “gangsters and thieves and kidnappers” all around, and our drivers risk their lives when they go to this area. But children and families need the food now, more than ever before…

Yesterday, we delivered food in two areas… One of these areas is called “Fond Bayard.” This village is almost right on the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. This huge group of Haitians are “Haitian/Dominicans.” They were deported from the Dominican Republic years ago and feel that they do not belong to either side. It is a sad situation as they try to exist by making a living any way they can. There are usually two whole families in each little “house,” which is hard, but they are thankful for shelter. The families usually cut down trees for charcoal, or the ladies buy something at the border and re-sell it, but each day is a “struggle to survive!!”

When our Feed My Starving Children food comes in, they begin to dance and clap their hands.

Our Haitian sons do a great job… Yesterday, Dieuferly was there taking pictures (included here); Carlos helps drive the trucks and George is always there to help. Our older Haitian kids “love” feeding the hungry! It is because they “know what hunger is.”

Each box of food is very valuable. It has so much protein and is excellent for malnourished children! Thank you, partners, for your sacrificial gifts to help us “get the food from across the US to Miami, across the ocean to the Haitian Port, and all the way out here to Fond Parisien…” where it goes out to many villages, like this one.

We will continue our Food Distributions today! Sherry

Word from the Mission Field

This scripture is so true…

“… He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

When we soweth a bountiful harvest, we shall reap a bountiful harvest! God has a formula for success, and it works! Many of you have a big harvest coming up!

God loves a sad giver… Oh, I’m sorry, the Bible says that God loves “a cheerful giver.”
