“Love A Church” in Old Letant

We had such a good time at the “Love A Church” in the village of Old Letant. This small church lost its precious pastor a few months ago, Pastor Sorrell, and we were so concerned about it. But some of Pastor Sorrell’s family “took up the cross” and began where Pastor Sorrell left off. Now, the church is growing every Sunday.

Watson, our Love A Child cameraman, and his lovely wife and children really have a burden for this Church. Watson preaches there every Sunday. This morning, as we’re sitting there singing, they brought out “biscuits and coffee” for everyone (including the children) and also candy for after Church! (I think this would make us want to become “Members,” Ha!)

The Church is really growing and doing well. Even though they don’t have a guitar or piano, or anything, they were singing with all their might!

Normally, we could say that this was really great, seeing the Church is doing so well, even though the Pastor went on to be with the Lord… But, this village is a village of “mud huts,” … everyone lives in a mud hut! They buy used clothes on the street (they call this “pepe,” and they dress as best as they can). (All Haitian Christians have great respect for Church!)

Sherry and I were so blessed to see the service doing so well, and Watson and his wife taking so much time with the people and children! We know that Pastor Sorrell must be looking down from Heaven and smiling!

We especially want to thank David George and his ministry partners for sponsoring the building of this Church, “in the middle of nowhere!” This has brought great joy to the people! Bobby and Sherry

Word From The Mission Field

“But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand…” Isaiah 64: 8

Oh Lord mold us and shape us! Not our will but Your will be done.

We are in the potter’s hand!

Update On Casimi – Semi-Truck Rice Container

Sorry, yesterday afternoon we lost our internet until just about 2 hours ago.

Casimi did not make it to the Port-Au-Prince Port to pick up our container of rice yesterday due to all the shooting.

He tried again today, but the gangs were shooting at each other in Croix-des-Bouquets, all day long. This is one of the towns he must travel through. Pray that he will be able to make it on Monday to pick up the rice at the Port. Just the Port area by itself is dangerous.

Everyone from the earthquake needs the food desperately.

Every time Casimi leaves to pick up the rice that we bought at the Port, Sherry and I are on edge.

Casimi is our hero for the poor. He has nerves of steel! The angels fly close to Casimi!

Thank you for your prayers for Casimi.

When we give food to least of these little ones, the Bible teaches us we are giving the food to Jesus himself! Matthew 25:40

Love is something you do!

“Lollipop!”

Sandraline’s father was a bicycle repairman. His wife died after giving birth to Sandraline. Her father had to pay a lady to take care of his baby… and soon, he found out he did not have the money for milk and to pay a lady to take care of the baby. At nine months old, Sandraline was extremely malnourished. Her father heard about Love A Child and brought her to us… He has not been to see her since.

Sandraline is so sweet. She usually looks like “Minnie Mouse,” and she is a sweetie. The kids call her “pi-wi-li” lollipop! Due to her malnutrition, she is slow in school and really struggles. But, she loves to work at the orphanage… She babysits, she irons, she mops floors, etc.

We really love “Lollipop!” She is a sweetie!!! Sherry

Seeds That Give “Hope”

Thousands of families in Haiti are trying to recover from the recent earthquake and storm with heavy rains. Many of you are helping with extra donations for earthquake relief, tents, tarps, food, etc. Thousands of families have been left with nothing.

Last week we received a large donation of 5,000 packs of special garden seeds from Hope Seeds to help the families recover and give them hope. The Hope Seed packs have at least 10 different varieties of specially selected open-pollinated vegetable seeds that will last the families many seasons of growing their own food. When the families see their new seeds sprout and begin to grow, they know that soon they will have reliable, nutritious food from their own efforts. That gives them “hope.”

Thank you to all of you who show the love of Christ through your donations and support for all the outreaches of Love A Child.

Update From the Mission Field

We just got a scratchy phone call from Bobby and Sherry explaining that the communication service in Haiti must be down. They had been trying to call out to us and send emails since last night but can not get anything out. Please excuse their absence from our website and Facebook during this internet problem. They can not even make any calls within Haiti. They do not know what the problem is but are praying that it gets solved soon.

They will be back with more “Latest News” about life on the mission field in Haiti as soon as they can. Thank you for understanding this disruption and for all your prayers for their safety and victories against the enemy.

Word From The Mission Field

Urgent Prayer Needed

The last two days here in Haiti, things have been going downhill. The gangs are on the streets again. The area of Martissaint had been open, but now, the gangs are furious. They blocked the area of Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, yesterday, when we had three children trying to get to a hospital for exams. Our truck had to turn around and come back to Fond Parisien for safety. Everything and everyone stopped and had to turn around and run for safety from the gangs.

Another problem was the container of rice that we had paid for. We have the “best container driver in Haiti,” Casimi. But, even Casimi could not get to that container of rice, which was downtown at the Port… He will try again today.

Everyone, please, please pray for Casimi and for his protection. We will keep you posted! It will take “another miracle!” God Can!!!

Word from the Mission Field

“For I will restore…”

I have said this scripture to myself so many times… “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” (Joel 2:25) I had to run and look up the word “restore.” It means to “give back, return it to, bring it back into existence, bring it back to its former state, to make good, or to restore.” What has the devil stolen from you? Your children? Your health? Something of value? God is saying to you today that He, the God of Israel, who lies not, shall restore those things that you have lost, or those things that have been eaten up or destroyed!!! This is the Word of God “for you!” You can “hang your hat on it!”So, go ahead and praise God ahead of time!!! Sherry

Left For Dead

Moses will be in the 9th grade this fall. I remember the day that our Haitian Director, Nelio, called us while we were at our old, broken-down rented orphanage. He said, “Sherry, an old man found a baby. The mother went to an outhouse to give birth and dropped him down the hole. The old man heard a cry, and he tied a rope around his waist and had someone lower him down into the Haitian toilet with a bucket.” (I still cannot imagine that to this day.) The people lowered the old man down and he brought up a baby in a bucket, covered with feces. The women of the village cleaned him up and sent him to the children’s hospital. Then, after two weeks, they called us and asked us to take him. We named him “Moses.”

Today, Moses is getting ready to go to 9th grade. He loves soccer and basketball! There is no telling what he will do with his life, but one thing we know… God has a great plan for his life!! He is a special young man!!! Oh yes, the kids nicknamed him, “De Tet.” (Two heads!)
