Update Haiti News

Tent update for earthquake victims:

We have received enough money for a little over 2,100 tents! This is including the double matching grant for tents.

Our goal was 1,000 tents. We have way surpassed the goal!! We are good for tents.

Today, we are purchasing 1,500 tents from Bass Pro Headquarters.

Sent the money today for a missionary to buy 200 tents, plus rice, beans, etc., to put in their container to ship ASAP for deep into the interior.

Feed My Starving Children Meals:

Mark Crea, the President of FMSC, called this morning.

They are increasing our containers of FMSC meals by 4 extra per month!! Wow!

They had just increased our 8 containers per month to 11… Now, this! PTL!

Faith doesn’t know we don’t have the money!

We are praying for the needs of FMSC. I know they have a heavy burden upon them.

We love and appreciate them…

Love is something you do!

No More Bees, Please…

We have been receiving wonderful donations of medical supplies from World Vision and MAP International. We have been sharing these supplies with the Department of Health in Haiti and also with various hospitals and organizations who work in the Medical Field.

This morning as we began to load a box truck with supplies from World Vision, our workers inside were afraid to work because they were scared of the bees! Apparently, a Queen Bee decided that she would build her little “condo” right there on top of the World Vision pallet!!

No one here knew what to do!

Finally, someone remembered a little grandpa from New Letant that we had helped years ago, Mr. Tison. He came with his grandson and began to smoke the female out and put her in a box!

He told us that by this evening, all the “workers” would move into the “bee box!” I sure hope so!

Haitians love honey, but they are afraid of the bees!

We are all busy now, so please, “no more bees please,” until we get a full-time beekeeper!

Love A Child has LOTS of bees on our property, and the Haitians consider this a huge blessing from the Lord, as we know it is!!

We will “bee” keeping you informed!

God bless you,
Sherry

New TV Program “The Harvest is Ripe” Begins Friday!

This week on Love a Child TV in “The Harvest is Ripe,” Bobby and Sherry Burnette take an exploratory trip to see the poverty in Mon Deral, Haiti. A place where a chair is an unheard-of luxury, access to water is infrequent, and people sleep on their bellies to evade their inescapable hunger pains. You’ll meet a grandmother who has been left to take care of her grandchildren but has nothing and must survive on a diet of saltwater soup. A young boy’s circumstances have forced him to live the life of a young man, caring for his mother and helping his father support the family. Here, a bowl of food is more than nourishment; it’s hope, without which they cannot survive. Your continued support makes this hope possible.

We want to invite viewers around the world to tune in on Friday to Daystar Television Network at 6:30 p.m. (ET) and then throughout the week. You can also watch us on DirecTV, DISH Network, Christian Television Network, The Word Network, NRB, and many more local television stations. Check out our full schedule for the best way for you to tune in. You can also watch the program online through our Vimeo and YouTube channels or on our website www.loveachild.com under the “Media” tab.

Thank you for all you do! Love is something you do!

“Your Leftovers” or “Your Best …”

Bobby and I have been working in the ministry for many years. We have done street evangelism, ministered in auditoriums, churches, tent crusades, and then, moved to Haiti. We have seen all kinds of “offerings.” Many times, people are asked to give a “sacrificial offering,” but they just give something “leftover,” to ease their conscience.

People have sent things to us in Haiti, i.e. plates that still have “food dried on them, T-shirts that have stains and are torn, and clothing that has been mildewed and rats have peed on them.” Yet, there are those who send nice, clean items, and those that make little dresses for the children, and many buy “new clothes” that are on sale. Some little grandmas carefully fold nice, clean little T-shirts and other items for the children… They take great pride in their “sacrifice.”

I read a story in the Bible about King David… II Samuel 24:24- King David was on his way to build an altar to the Lord and offer a “sacrifice.” He arrived at the threshingfloor of a man named Araunah, a Jebusite. When this man saw King David, he bowed to the ground and asked what the King needed. David replied, that he had come to sacrifice to the Lord.

Araunah told the King that David could have anything he needed for the sacrifice, oxen, threshingfloor instruments, and anything else he needed… He told the King, “whatever you need, take it and offer your sacrifice.”

Here was David’s reply, “Nay: but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God, of that which doeth cost me nothing.” So, David bought the threshingfloor and oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

A “sacrifice” is precious in the eyes of the Lord… that’s why Jesus talked about the little widow woman who gave her last two mites; Jesus said, “she had given more than the rest.”

No matter what you are doing or giving, always give God your best and He will give you “His Best!” Have a great day! Sherry

A Beautiful Girl – “Zo Kiki”

“Zo Kiki”

With four children already, Monique and Jonas Louis were expecting another child. But Monique died in childbirth. The baby that was born was named Nazalie. Her father could not afford milk to feed her as a baby, so he brought her to us. I really thought that “Nazalie” was not a pretty enough name for such a beautiful baby. My nickname for her became Rachael. She has grown into a beautiful little girl. Her sisters call her “Zo Kiki.”

Nazalie loves to cook, iron, and dance! She is a member of our Praise Dance Team. She recently developed a really bad skin infection on her head, which became oozing sores. Nothing could make it go away. But I had seen plenty of this in my Mobile Medical Clinics and made up my own “concoction.” The bad infection is gone and her black hair is coming back! The best thing is that school is almost starting!!

We love Nazalie and all our children!

A New Area…

“The Children from Blanquette” (pronounced blanket)

This morning, our team went to an area called, “Blanquette.”

We traveled up a rocky road for about 40 minutes, with scraggly thorn trees on both sides of the road. As we climbed to the top of the hilly, gravel road there was a large crowd of poor people. We talked to them and greeted them and then, went to the place our local pastor found, to give food. We greeted the large crowd of mothers, who were in line for food. Everyone was so patient, and everyone was thankful. After the distribution, we headed to an area between a large hill and the rocky bed. There were so many children waiting for food.

Meanwhile, the cooks were busy with big, huge pots of food cooking over the open fire. The smell of the food drifted down over the side of the mountain where little children were quietly waiting! All eyes were on the food!

We filled all the bowls full, and it was as if Jesus caused the food to be multiplied!! We just kept feeding the children and the adults too!

We wish to thank Feed My Starving Children for the food and thank our partners for sponsoring the food to come here! Just look at the faces of these precious children!! We do not have the words to say, “Thank you!”

This morning, we are taking our “Food Distribution Team” to a new area where the need is great. We were there yesterday and had to cut the trip short in order to bring back a sick mother and a little boy with severe burns.

We will have pictures later. Thank you, partners!!

Blessings are coming your way!

“Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of the languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.” Psalm 41:1-3

These are seven supernatural promises that the Lord has made to those who bless the poor! When we bless the poor, blessings are coming our way!!

A Man in the Body of a Child

Just look at Noah! What a cute little dude! Noah will be in his last year of preschool. He’s just like an adult in the body of a child! Noah is sweet, hardworking, and very mature. He thinks things through. He likes to talk to adults, and he studies your face when he is talking to you!

Noah makes good grades in school. He is big for his age, but so, so sweet! You wonder how anyone could “throw away a little toddler” like Noah… When we found him, he had been beaten, and had bite marks on him! His hair was gone, and he cried all the time. He was in bad condition! But the Lord rescued this sweet little boy with no name… So, “Noah” fits him perfectly!!

Noah loves sports, but he loves to sit and talk about anything too. When he talks, he looks “right through your eyes.” He is an amazing little guy, and he will do anything that is asked of him. We wonder what he will become in the future… What plan does God have for little Noah? One thing we do know, it is all good!!! We always see people and children “as they are,” but God sees them “as what they will become!” Noah will be “something special!” That’s why we love him!

Sherry

P.S. Oh, did I mention that “Noah loves to dance!?”
