“The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service.” I Corinthians 3:8-9
Helping Haitians learn how to improve their own food supply through effective agricultural practices.
Our Edible Plant Nursery promotes plant selection and propagation in helping Haitians establish a permanent food supply. What began with a single avocado tree and a young breadfruit sapling is now a thriving operation that bears enough produce to supply five of our kitchens and feed over 160 people!
With your support, Love A Child has been able to assist Haitians in cultivating a vast assortment of fruits and vegetables. Through our regional Seed Depot and in partnership with Hope Seeds, we’ve distributed over 100,000 packets of quality seeds to Haitian farmers and gardeners.
The benefits of our Edible Plant Nursery are exponential, breathing new life and purpose into once-decaying communities.
Newly adopted methods for selecting variety and species diversity provide a greater degree of food security; some Haitian families are even able to start sustainable businesses!
The cycle of life we rely on in these gardens is a good illustration of the Biblical principles of sowing and reaping, whether it’s planted for food or souls for the Kingdom.
Why Fruit Tree Farming is important for Haiti…
With our Edible Plant Nursery, Love A Child teaches Haitian families about new fruit tree varieties
Not only are fruit trees excellent places for shade, but their canopies reduce damage done by strong winds and hard rainfall during tropical storms.
Fruit trees grow all year long despite the season! Farmers keep busy year-round, generating a steady income AND providing nutritious food for locals
Help us grow high-yielding fruits and vegetables!
