Sherry and I just returned from a new village in the mountain where we distributed meals and fed 200 little children a hot delicious meal. Pictures and a report will be coming soon.
This little girl was in the village. A few days ago, she fell into a fire; I believe where her family was cooking. Sherry will have the whole story in a little while. We put her in our vehicle and took her straight to our Jesus Healing Center emergency room with her mother. She is in bad shape. Please pray for her. Our hearts go out for her. I took this picture so you could help pray.
More will Sherry comes in from the emergency room. Thank you for your prayers.
There are three kinds of giving: tithes, offerings, and alms (which means giving to the poor). God blesses all of these, but I believe there is a special place in God’s heart for those who go the second mile and give to those who cannot give back.
In Acts, we hear about a man named Cornelius. He was a Gentile, a Roman centurion, a believer in and follower of the Jewish God, and a giver of alms. It was in his giving of alms that God saw his heart. He sent Peter to preach to Cornelius so he could now become a follower of Jesus.
Cornelius was “a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which give much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.” (Acts 10:2) And God said to him, “Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.” (Acts 10:4) Because of Cornelius giving to the poor, the Lord put him in the book of Acts! Our giving to the poor will come up as a memorial when we stand before God. This I do believe…
I cannot believe our little Daniella is now in her last year of high school! She and her brother, Daniel, were supposed to be “triplets,” but their mother died in childbirth with the “third baby.” Daniel, her brother, has always had health problems. We didn’t think he would live… We later found out that he had an “eye infection” that he inherited from the day he was born. Daniella has had some problems, but not as bad.
Daniella just got glasses! Kids in Haiti love glasses, so Daniella is happy! Notice that the children here in Haiti wear uniforms, and they are proud of their school uniforms. They have been given a chance in life that many Haitian children do not have… The chance to go to school and be what they want to be. Daniella wants to be an eye doctor, and she wants to specialize in “diseases of the eyes” because her brother has suffered so much in his life with his eyes. Daniella’s dream is to help children who have had serious eye illnesses, like her brother.
We are so, so proud of her wanting to “give back” to the children of Haiti! We love this beautiful young lady, Daniella!
With all the insecurity problems here in Haiti, the problem of “food” is at the top of the list. Imagine any woman in the states, without a husband… that has children to feed. There are all kinds of food programs and government assistance. But in Haiti, there is nothing. There is no welfare system, certainly no government assistance, and no insurance plans… nothing. Each mother has to figure out “how to feed their children today,” especially when the father has died or left. When a man leaves his wife in Haiti, there is no court to make him pay “child assistance.” It is now up to the mother…
She will try her best to feed her children… but she will have to start a garden or make charcoal, or find some type of leaves, etc. to sell.
This means, that when there is no money for food… there is no money for anything else, including medicine. There is no money for anything. Without money to put their children in school, there is no education, and with no education, the cycle repeats itself.
This is why we believe in feeding the children first and providing a Christian education with a full hot meal each day… For every child that is fed, “thank you, partners!” – Bobby and Sherry
The Creole proverb says, “The child who cries inside your house and the child who cries outside your door, are the same…”
Yesterday we were in New Letant (the Kingdom Connection Village), and Old Letant passing out meals. I saw some of the children putting the boxes of food on their heads so many times because their parents may have been working in the fields. Each box of Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) meals weighs 33 pounds each. That’s a lot of weight.
Each box contains 216 meals of rice, carrots, peas, vegetables, soy, with a lot of vitamins and minerals. Everyone was so thankful. We are thankful for those of you who helped make this possible and FMSC. We love you…
Have you ever felt that you have been “taken advantage of?” This mostly happens to people, God’s people, who have a good heart, a humble heart, a caring heart. Some people “get taken advantage of” because they have no “self-worth,” or sometimes because they are trying to please people as they don’t want to make anyone angry.
In II Kings 20:13, the good King Hezekiah made a horrible mistake and was greatly taken advantage of. He was the king of Judah and the keeper of all the gold and riches in the House of God! The Lord had entrusted Hezekiah, who was a good man, but a man of little self-worth. When the king of Babylon came to see King Hezekiah, the Bible says that he “hearkened unto them” and shewed the king of Babylon all the precious silver, gold, ointments, riches… The Bible says, “there was nothing that King Hezekiah did not show them!”
The Prophet Isaiah came to the king and prophesied all the evil that was going to come upon his kingdom for doing this. Hezekiah had been “taken advantage of” and it cost him the kingdom. The king of Babylon would steal all the treasures in the house of the Lord. Hezekiah’s sons would be made eunuchs to serve in the palace of the king of Babylon!
Don’t ever let yourself be “taken advantage of” for any reason. Satan can use anyone to do this, even your best friend. Jesus said, “Be ye wise as serpents, harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16) Have a great day, and always beware of traps!
Kidney is the brother of James, who were both brought up at our orphanage. As Kidney grew older he developed a love for our Love A Child Radio Station. He was trained to operate the “board,” and did many things to help. Kidney was very dependable. He had to be there early every morning.
Now that he has graduated from High School, he will take “Telecommunications.” All our Love A Child children are “reaching for their dreams!” We have always taught them to “serve Jesus first,” and get a good education! We are so proud of Kidney!
Our first “40-foot container” of the earthquake tents arrived here late yesterday afternoon! This is fast! Now, Nelio, our director is working with customs to get them out ASAP.
Our next problem is getting the tents out to the earthquake epicenter where the most damage was. We must travel through “Martissaint” where the gangs have complete control… If they are not standing in the street to stop you, then they have their big guns sticking out of windows to shoot at containers to stop them and take everything.
We must travel through this way to get to the families who need our tents. We really need your prayers and God’s wisdom. Casimi will be driving our semi with the container. We must follow behind him with our vehicles.
Our first load of tents will be between 1,200 and 1,500. I asked yesterday, “in this one area where we will first work, could they use all 1,500 tents?” Hubert, who is organizing the tents and where to set them up, said in a trembling voice, “if we had 5,000 tents we would not have enough!!” It’s been rainy out there around three days a week; our hearts go out to the families.
Thank you for your prayers and your very generous support. We are a “team,” working together for the Lord to bless the poor.
We must overcome some obstacles, let’s pray together…
Mother Teresa once said, “God has not called me to be successful. He has called me to be faithful”. Everyone wants to do great things and be noticed, but the Lord wants us to learn to be faithful first.
Each day, God does big and small things for us. “For who has despised the day of small things?” Zechariah 4:10.
God blesses small, faithful things in a big way. What will God ask you to do today? Focus for today: If we can’t be faithful with the small things, how can the Lord trust us with the big things? Learn to be faithful with a few small things and he will bless your efforts. You will see what God can do!
Yonel… “We could see every rib he had!” I had never seen such a “skeleton-like” child, who was still alive! When we were conducting a Mobile Clinic in the far-out regions in Haiti, a grandmother came to us with this young man. His name was Yonel and he was nothing more than “skin and bones.” He looked like a “skeleton” with pants on!
His baby sister was dying, but she was already too far gone. We thought that maybe we could save Yonel’s life. We took him back to our old orphanage, (which was where we began), and en-route, we stopped to eat a mango and Yonel ate “8 mangos!” He quickly gained weight and gained his health back. We never had any problems until he went to “diesel mechanic school.” He did not pass, but he never let us know he was not passing. When we found out, we were really upset… not because he wasn’t passing, but because he never told us. This is typical Haitian custom. Even if they break something here at the orphanage, by accident, they will never tell us! We have to find it out after the problem has grown! But this time we had already invested money into Yonel and we felt he should have come to us instead of letting us continue to pay. But, life goes on…
A short time later, he begged us to give him a job. So, we put him on our “painting team!” It is like “job security” for the future, because we will always be painting, and fixing, and repairing! Yonel found out that he actually loved painting! We gave him a steady job and, just a short time ago, he got married! While he was standing there with his bride, my thoughts went back to that day at the Mobile Clinic, where a skeleton-like little boy stood before me. And now, here was, standing before me, with his new bride! How life moves on! Yonel still works for us on the “painting team.” He never comes late. He loves his job, and, he loves his wife!! We are all happy!
