Word from the Mission Field

“A Repenting Heart…”

In Luke 15:10, Jesus was teaching on something very important… “a repenting heart.” He said, “There is joy in the presence of the Angels of God, over one sinner that repenteth.” Then, he went on to tell the story of what we call “The Prodigal Son.” When we say this, instantly, people think about the young son, who left his precious father, went into a far country, wasted all his inheritance on prostitutes, drugs, partying, everything you can think of… After all this, he had spent all of his inheritance…

But then the famine came. He had gone “from bad to worse.” He was broke, his friends were gone, and he was left alone to die.

He finally ended up in the hands of a man who had pigs, who told the young man to “feed his pigs.” He got so hungry that he actually wanted to eat the pig’s food!

Knowing how the Israelites thought about pigs, this was a remarkable thing to say. There was no one there to give him food or share anything to eat with him. He was undoubtedly hungry for a very long time. But the Bible says, “But when he came to himself…” That means a light came on. He started thinking, “I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee.” That son acknowledged his sin before his father and before God! Then he said, “I am no more worthy to be called thy son; make me as of thy hired servants.”

This brings tears to my eyes. How often has someone done something wrong against us, and we just can’t forgive them…This young man had a “repenting heart.” This is the heart that God loves…

And just like our “Heavenly Father, who sees us coming to Him in the distance,” he ran towards his son!

Today, your life may be in a mess, and you feel that there is no one to pull you out of the “pigpen.” But your Father is always there, waiting. He just wants to hear that “repenting heart” cry out to Him, so that He can open His arms and say, “Welcome back, my child!”

Always, always have a “repenting heart,” and God will bless you. Good things will be coming your way! Sherry

We Can’t Call Him “Little Carlos” Anymore!

We used to call him “Little Carlos,” but we can’t call him that anymore! Carlos has grown up to be a pleasant, hardworking, respectful young man.

The first time we saw Carlos and his mother was when we were in our first old “rented” orphanage. We were so poor and could hardly afford anything! Carlos’ mother, Jan, came to our gate asking for food for her and her child. She said they had been sleeping on cardboard in the streets, anywhere they could. She only asked for food. She came each day, until one day, we just decided to give her a job and take her and her son in to live with us.

Carlos has finished school. One day, we noticed that he was learning to drive the front-end loader, back-hoe, etc. from our mechanic, Joker (a Dominican). Carlos learned quickly. He is a wonderful and safe driver! He and his brother, George, can handle all the big equipment!!

Carlos has worked hard under Pastor Mark, clearing land for our projects, etc. A couple of months ago, he broke his leg and was in a cast for a long time. But he is doing much better now! Carlos is a “big brother” to all our kids! We all love him!

Food Distribution – Miracle Village, Haiti

Today, we began distributing food in many villages. We started today with Miracle Village. This is the village that we built for the families who lost their homes in the 2010 earthquake. We built these houses with wood because everyone was afraid of cement blocks falling on them! We always teach the families to “keep their yards” clean.

When it’s time for Food Distribution, if they don’t have their yards clean, they do not get food (unless there is a good reason… in which case they have a chance to redeem themselves).

George and Berry (two of our older Love A Child kids) were there to help, along with our Haitian Security.

Today, Bobby was there with them, greeting the people and hugging the babies! Many of these precious people have given their hearts to the Lord and attend church in Miracle Village.

We gave them a nice large sack of rice and some beans. We had ordered this ahead of time while waiting on the Feed My Starving Children food to arrive. Everyone was so happy to receive food.

This is a critical time for poor Haiti… there is so much violence in the streets that parents cannot go to sell or try to make a living due to the gang violence in the streets. God bless all our friends and partners who help us “feed the hungry!” Bobby and Sherry

Today is move-in day!

Today, at 4:00 p.m., we will have the dedication for the new Jesus Healing Center Staff dorm/housing! Then everyone will move in! PTL! Mission accomplished!

I’m sorry. I know several of you always like to come through the years to Haiti when we dedicate a building and visit.

This time because of the dangers on the road and trying to travel Croix-de-Bouquets to get here, it’s much too dangerous.

Be looking for pictures this evening!

LAC TV Program “One Child at a Time” Begins Friday!

This week Love A Child TV takes you through despondent villages in Haiti to witness the hopeless realities of restavek slave children in “One Child at a Time.” Your heart will break when you see children separated from their families because their parents can no longer support them. Children who have escaped violent, gang-held areas only to find themselves living in the dump, grateful to find a meal among the garbage. Children who manage the cooking, cleaning, and physically exhausting chores of an entire household, but are still beaten, belittled, hungry and lonely. You can end this reality; it all starts with a box of food.

We want to invite viewers around the world to tune in on Friday to Daystar Television Network at 6:30 p.m. (ET) and then throughout the week. You can also watch us on DirecTV, DISH Network, Christian Television Network, The Word Network, NRB, and many more local television stations. Check out our full schedule for the best way for you to tune in. You can also watch the program online through our Vimeo and YouTube channels or on our website www.loveachild.com under the “Media” tab.

Love is something you do!

“Take The Limits Off God!”
I could read the stories of Elisha and Elijah over and over again! Just to think that we are serving the same God makes me so excited! In 2 Kings 4:1-7, we see the “widow woman,” who could not pay her debt. How many of us have been in that condition? Bobby and I were when we first started our ministry. She has a son but owes money, and the debtors are coming to take her son. She is in a mess! Elisha comes by and tells her to “fill all her vessels,” because God is going to do a miracle! The miracle could have stopped there, but “God is a God of more than enough!” As her vessels overflowed, the oil was still flowing. Elisha said, “Go borrow vessels somewhere, anywhere!” And, “the God of more than enough,” filled those! The only reason the oil stopped was because she was out of vessels. Today, when you pray, don’t just ask God “for just enough to get by,” ask God for “more than enough!” Take the limits off God! Today will be good! Sherry

Daniel… A Quiet Kid

This is Daniel, the twin of Daniella. He and his sister had another sibling born at the same time, but their mother died along with the baby. It was during the time when Haiti was again facing political problems, and men with guns were in the streets. When their mother went to the General Hospital, the men with guns blocked the hospital and told everyone to leave. Daniel’s mother went home to her little humble place and delivered two babies, and then she died.

Their uncle brought both children to us. Daniel was so much smaller than his sister and always “sickly.” He was so tiny that we did not think he would live. We never knew as he grew up with health problems that his eyes were affected as well. We sent Daniel to have his eyes checked and they gave him glasses, but he still could not see. He failed two grades, which is unbelievable because he always studies!

A week ago, I found another eye doctor in downtown Port-au-Prince. She said that he has a serious eye infection and that he has had it since he was born! He can barely see out of one of his eyes. We will keep him close and always be watchful of any changes. We don’t even have a diagnosis for what kind of problem he has! It is really hard to get a “diagnosis” on paper, but it can be done.

Daniel is quiet, hardworking, and wants to please. He deeply loves his sister, Daniella. They are “closer than twins!” Daniel wants to be a mechanic, but I think that will change. I just can’t see him getting his hands dirty. Daniel is really a sweet kid, very respectful! We love him!

“It Was Just Like Christmas in September!”

Today, was an exciting day as we began to load medical supplies and medicines to share. We received “many” pallets of medicines from MAP International and pallets of medical supplies from World Vision. It takes both medicines and medical supplies both to help the poor with good care.

Our favorite friend, Pastor Claude, showed up to give us hand to load these items. Medical supplies went to Familie Hospital and Ebeneezer Hospital along with some of the medicines from MAP International.

Dr. Barthelemy came over to pick up MAP International medicines for our Birthing Center, Jesus Healing Center, and the Malnutrition Clinic. To all of us, it was “just like Christmas in September!”

We all want to send a big “thank you,” to World Vision and to MAP International! It’s all about “Helping the Poor!” God bless everyone who helped pack these medical supplies and medicines!

And God bless all our partners, and our container driver, Casimi, who often risks his life to pick up these containers in dangerous areas of Haiti.

Tents for Haiti’s Earthquake Victims Update

Rad told me this morning that 1,200 plus tents were delivered to our Love A Child warehouse yesterday in Fort Myers from Bass Pro Shops, where they were manufactured in the state of Washington.

Several hundred more are on their way! Plus 2,500 tarps are coming!

Friday morning, hopefully, the office will be loading a 40-foot container full of tents for Haiti.

This will get us started. Last week we had many tents arrive by container from our office in Fort Myers, which came in from our friends and partners who bought through Amazon.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible… We love you.

Soon we will be putting up tents in the interior where the epicenter of the earthquake struck…

Below is a short letter from Angela whom I asked to take a picture of the tents so I could show you…

Subject: Re: Pictures
Sure thing! I took three and they are attached. The warehouse is so full I couldn’t get a good angle to show just how many there are!

Blessings,
Angela

Update from the ATC

Wilner the head of our LAC Agricultural Training Center, emailed me. I was so happy to see they started this chicken project on their own. Every Haitian should have some chickens for eggs and meat in their back yard if possible.

Wilner is learning how to write in English…

Dear my Big Boss. How was your day?

I hope everything is fine.

These photos are small project chickens (local chicken) we started at Agriculture training center (ATC). We want to show all the peasants who came to visit us at ATC how you can raise 🐔 chickens at home without the peasants are in big dificit as they raise their 🐔 chickens in their backyards they also have predator, problems and natural disasters that always cause them to lose their 🐔 chickens and eggs. Look at the pictures.

Wilner

Chicken is King! Only God could think of making a chicken, then have her lay an egg full of protein!
